Do you believe in God ?

Here is an article about people who seriously believe that we are living in a matrix. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...musk-artificial-intelligence-ai-a7347526.html

A matrix requires a creator does it not, or at least someone who started it an somehow manages it?

Here is another article about serious scientists who believe it is PROBABLE that we are living in a simulation. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/oct/11/simulated-world-elon-musk-the-matrix

I don't believe we are living in a "simulation".
In simulation, there are no real solid stuff involved.

If my awareness of my reality is a product of mechanically engineered programming, nothing will change for I will continue to eat, shit, fuck, bathe, and go to work there being no reason to worry whether I am a clone, or a pawn, or a computer simulated projection of an advanced civilisation that is stimulated daily by playing games with its programs.

... but if my "reality" is the product of consciousness, as quantum theories appear to suggest, then it is arguable that simulated existence is no more tangible than was a flat planet Earth, or planet Earth being the centre of the universe.

Consider that most of what we experience about our surroundings is clearly created by our brains. Sound as we experience it does not exist outside our brains. A falling tree creates only waves in the air; our brains turn it into what we call sound. Electro-magnetic waves of different lengths strike the retinas of our eyes, and our brains create light and color as we know them. Taste and smell are similarly created by our brains, as are our feeling of heat and cold; all exist but our brain creates our subjective experience in the same way that it creates pain when we prick our finger. Same for our feeling of touch. When you understand all that, what part of our consciousnes is not created by our brains? Simulation is more plausible than it seems at first glance, as is the paranormal, and some form of a superior being.

If you read the articles about the matrix and simulation, they hypothicize that the simulation was created by our ancestors from the future, but that seems like an attempt to avoid the God conclusion. If we are only living in a simulation, how could the present humans give rise to the future ones.

All of that is neuroscientific myth which sells an image that all 'outside the brain' is some meaningless mathematical abstraction that only the 'experts'--them--can tell us about

In reality they do not REALLY know how they even observe. AND as they ponder this in the labs, Mother Earth is being stripped of all its diversity, and life, and is being plundered, and poisoned, and destroyed!

Why should anyone care if the image they have of themselves is as meat-robots with no free will, in a sea of meaningless mathematical matrix-like chaos, and their sole purpose is to consume and produce, and grab what they can before their brain dies?

I don't agree with this statement.
The brain is the "detector" and storage of memory but outside our brain is real.
If you don't exist, things are still going on ....

Do you see my point that sound AS WE EXPERIENCE IT does not exist out side our minds? As well as color, light, heat, cold, taste, and smell, all of which are created in our minds to make outside stimulation understandable.

I am not sure what your point here is. You are essentially saying that our experience doesn't exist when we don't experience it. The stimulus that has the ability to induce an experience exists whether or not an "experiencer" is around to have an experience.

True but the reality is very, very different from how we experience it and what we think it is like. The universe is a dark and silent place. But my real point related to the links to scientists who think we are living in a matrix or simulation. It is not as far fetched as it first seems. To a large extent we are living in a simulation created by our own minds.

False,
the universe created your mind not the other way around.
Evolution created your mind.

Again not true,
the outside conditions created your mind and your mind experience the outside conditions.

If you believe in the simulation, then who created the simulator ?
It is the same as if you believe in god, then who created god ?

No, the mind in large part does not experience the outside conditions, but something of its own creation. Do you understand that sound does not exist out side our minds, but only waves in the air? When you prick your finger, the pain is created by your mind; it does not exist outside your mind?

If we are living in a simulation, I'd like to have a few words with asshats in charge.

So,
if i accept the big bang is a simulation,
do you believe the simulator is playing/interfere with the universe?

I do not accept that we are living in a simulation in the sense suggested by the links below, but if so, everything we think we know about the universe would be doubtful. When you think about it, all that talk about 100 billion galaxies, each with many billions a stars, does seem hard to believe does it not?

The programmers are working to fix the problem. They hope to have it resolved before release of the next generation of carbon-based like forms. ..|

The ideas you are expressing in this thread remind me somewhat of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (AKA Osho). His teachings held special appeal for the New Age folks.
