Do you believe what you see or what others tell you you saw?

Here are a few thoughts on the mind set of the conspiracy theorist:

https://psmag.com/half-of-americans-believe-at-least-1-conspiracy-theory-5c21777a004c#.45r71takd

I quote:

“For many Americans, complicated or nuanced explanations for political events are both cognitively taxing and have limited appeal. A conspiracy narrative may provide a more accessible and convincing account of political events.”

Over the years on this site several posters have attempted to convince us that man didn’t really land on the moon, or that President Obama was born in Kenya.

It can be argued that the conspiracy theorist is imparting genuinely interesting information — about themselves.

Research from a variety of sources suggests belief in such theories may reveal a Machiavellian mindset. An unwillingness to accept reality may well evidence a fear of instability, occasioned by terrorist assaults such as 9/11. Instability, or fear of the unknown makes most of us uncomfortable, made much more so by those who are prepared to imagine a spook behind every curtain. There are those who easily embrace ideas that they want to hear, for they appear to make more sense than accepting that Muslim terrorists can succeed in overwhelming the security of the United States.

Trust no one, particularly those in government, might well be the response of the conspiracy theorist who lives in fear of having to leave their worlds of shadows.

Ones cave becomes a prison cell, remote from real life.

^ Pretty much sums it up in this case.

It’s almost heartwarming to see people defending Uncle Sam’s integrity.

Uncle Sam has always been honest, trustworthy, and forthright throughout the history of the US.

Why, who could possibly question a government that still prints ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ on its currency?

Never wrong or the least bit shady, that Uncle Sam . . . .

It's not Uncle Sam's integrity, it's Generic Joe's inability to keep a secret to save their lives.

The more I read through this thread the more I am convinced that some people don't even bother to see that which is staring them directly in the face. If they don't open their eyes to see it they ain't gonna be capable of believing it.

So true.

And unless you watch raw, unedited footage from multiple vantage points......you will have not seen a complete picture of any event at all. Even if you were standing there.

Which is why the conspiracy wing nuts who have watched a 2 minute, highly edited clip of any event from a single vantage point, overlaid with conspiracy rich narratives telling them what they think you should be seeing ....well those poor fools have seen les than nothing at all.

And that is what we have in this thread.

So the way to approach it is to look at as much raw footage of an event with no sound, learn the principles of the physics and chemistry behind an event, study the evidence presented by as many sources as possible including the preposterous, look at the qualifications of the people witnessing and analyzing the event and whether they have anything to gain by giving a biased or untruthful interpretation.....and even then....recognize that you did not see the event yourself as you weigh the evidence put before you.

It is one of the things that makes me doubt your claim of being a lawyer.

LMAO! Shut up! That thing claims it's a lawyer? Really? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I wonder if he demands the judge call him "Mikey" too? LMAO!

If you lived 20 blocks from this you would know it was a security fuck up that allowed an opening of this magnitude to happen.
Conspiracy theories are silly. One not mentioned here was that bush and his advisors not legally elected 9 months earlier allowed this to happen to rally Americans under a crisis. Not realizing how big the attack would be.

Well, by his inaction, he allowed it to happen. Richard Clarke was screaming FIRE! And was basically told to piss off.

... That thing ...

Tell us more about yourself, Pacific Beatch.

Gee, you make it sound like there has never ever been an actual legitimate conspiracy anywhere. Is that what you mean, that global governments and powerful corporations have always been honest and forthcoming to the public and investors? Never any deception for monetary gain or power? Ever? Believe it or not, some might actually disagree with you...

http://yournewswire.com/2016-is-the-year-all-conspiracy-theories-were-proved-true/

And again, no one on here even tried to counter the points I raised about that BS Popular Mechanics article. The usual little group of intellectual eggheads are so quick with their superiority crap and condescension, yet just ignore simple questions and differing points of view.

mikey, i have intellect, but i am neither an "egghead" or superior to you. Many on here have not been ignoring your point of view, but rather explaining, and in great detail, just why this particular plane(pardon the pun) just does not fly.

Of course governments and corporations have been caught before doing their nefarious deed's, this is just not one of those times.

Wouldn't you want your lawyer to be creative and think outside the box? Telling a good story to develop reasonable doubt is what it's all about. :gogirl: And I earn a good living doing just that, thank you very much.

Can you prove it please? And site your sources. Thanks.

mikey, it has been proven here already in quite a few posts, with enough links to back up why and how the towers collapsed.

You choose to go with a differing viewpoint, which is fair enough, but which many of us believe to be wrong. I think this has been proven here, you do not. Simple as.

The popular mechanics article also fails to explain:

-The NORAD scrambled jets lie and the NORAD War games scheduled for that same day

The success of scrambling jets into the air is the result of surprising the air crews, and air station commanders.
We should recall that the United States Pacific Fleet, at Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese carrier borne aircraft on a Sunday morning, when the ships' crews were recovering from their Saturday night ashore, bar hopping and church parade on the ships' decks.
The Japanese succeeded with their surprise attack. It is a simple coincidence that NORAD scrambled their jets on 9/11, knowing that there is no set plan to scramble aircraft on one, or two, or three days each month. A wise commander may well scramble his aircraft on three successive days.

-Eye witness reports from civilians, firefighters and police of multiple locations well below and before the point of impact.

This is speculative knowing that after 9/11 it is very easy for the amateur sleuth to construct theories that address their a priori prejudices.

-Pools of molten metal discovered under WTC 1,2, and 7 weeks after the incident (thermite was discovered in steel samples after the article was released.

Imagine the large quantities of jet fuel spilling, and exploding when the aircraft hit the buildings.

-John Kerry admitted that the towers were brought down.

Explain?

-Larry Silverstein netted more than $5 billion from insurance he increased just weeks before the incident.

Insurance is usually renewed on a 12 monthly basis. I view nothing suspicious here.

-Steel from the WTC collapse, the most monumental crime scene in U.S. history, was wisked almost immediately to China and India.

The United States exports most of its scrap steel from East Coast ports such as Newark, NJ to Turkey, China, South Korea, and China for reprocessing into fresh steel.

The Popular Mechanics article is a proven joke. It was written by Benjamin Chertoff, senior researcher at Popular Mechanics, AND the cousin of Michael Chertoff, then Secretary of Homeland Security. Coincidence? Right! That article was bought and paid for by the US government.

Despite sharing the same surname Benjamin Chertoff has publicly stated that he, and Michael Chertoff are not cousins.

Were I Michael Chertoff and engaged in a conspiracy the last person that I would use to facilitate the cover up of that conspiracy would be a family member.

Another poster has correctly stated that conspiracies leading to destruction per 9/11 will inevitably leak to the public, the result of so many foot soldiers, and other personnel being involved. Secrecy would not be possible. Thus far no one has stepped forward to publicly state that they were part of a grand conspiracy to destroy The Twin Towers on 9/11.

What is really sad is that the OP has hung his whole case on an article written in Popular Mechanics without ever providing arguments against the points set out in the article.....and has stilled failed to CITE (not 'site') a single credible source for his wild claims.

I can't imagine he's ever won a case in front of any judge.

"Because the manager of public relations for Popular Mechanics didn't respond to repeated calls from American Free Press, I called Benjamin Chertoff, the magazine's "senior researcher," directly.

Chertoff said he was the "senior researcher" of the piece. When asked if he was related to Michael Chertoff, he said, "I don't know." Clearly uncomfortable about discussing the matter further, he told me that all questions about the article should be put to the publicist - the one who never answers the phone.

Benjamin's mother in Pelham, New York, however, was more willing to talk. Asked if Benjamin was related to the new Secretary of Homeland Security, Judy said, "Yes, of course, he is a cousin."

Do you really think he'd admit they are cousins?
