I call in sick like it's goin' out of style. Sometimes a bitch just doesn't feel like goin; to work. And boy, do my superiors cop and attituuuuuude. I try and keep it cute and short. "I'm not coming in, I don't feel well..." And then they get to asking a bunch of questions.

A bitch gotta do what a bitch gotta do.

I'm half tempted to do just that today actually, since it is beautiful outside and the 4th of july and all....but I get sunday pay AND holiday pay....

of course, the dumb fucks scheduled me to 8:30pm when my department clearly closes at 6pm. They are so smart...

I have never in my life called in sick when I was not sick. Not even once.

I can count on one hand the number of sick days I have taken in my lifetime.

And I have worked many days when I was very sick and should have stayed home.

I have called in sick ONCE in my life. So to answer your question: no.

It depends on your job really..... I never called in sick when i wasnt sick at my first job because someone would have had to either fill me in or everyone would have had to work harder, but at this new job we have a alloted amount of sick days per year and to call in sick i just call and automated line and no one ever notices people being sick.. so i call in sick all the time keepin to my alloted days of course

Suprised how many people haven't!

I did it *alot* in High School (Dentists 4-5 times in a year?), but now working Part-time, use my sickleave towards the end of the year so they're not wasted!

Paid leave? Yus puh-lease

in a word...No. If I call in sick, I really have to be sick. Being out in my position is such a hassle because you have to leave detailed substitute plans, which means you are doing twice the work by having to have things prepared ...

No. In addition to sick days, I could take personal time off. That was when I was not self employed.

I call in sick when I'm sick. I don't work when I don't feel well. A couple of those times was due to extreme hangover, but I try not to push it. I have a good job for my area and would hate to lose it. :(

If I have a job I dislike enough that I find myself wanting to call in sick more than once, then I'll probably just quit and look for a better job.

But I don't think calling in sick is a bad thing. I think our society vastly underrates the need for people to assess their mental health, and take "mental health" days. You're not PHYSICALLY sick when you're calling in sick, but maybe in terms of your mental health, you do need a day off, and you'll perform better after, too.

I faked sick more often in high school.

I met a guy one evening and he took me to his room and we had awesome sex throughout the night. Next day we were too tired to work and we both phoned our respective employers with our reasons for not attending like sick headache, migraine etc. When I phoned my new friends employer my voice did not sound convincing, and he almost accused me of telling a lie.
I managed to persuade him that I was genuine and he let it pass. Therefore, everything was ok., a night of debauchery with a rest day next day.

Although I typically go to work regardless of what is going on... I have been ordered to not work.

I work amongst a large group of people and if I have something like Bird Flu and can be contagious... I can then spread that to all my co-workers making my mission failed because no one can do it.

Sometimes being tuff simply means you share your ailments with your co-workers. SO now I consider it.

On the topic of a day off that is a workday?? I simply call my senior and let him know I wont be in and then call my juniors and tell them what i want to be done for the day.... easy nuff

Maybe once a year, we call them mental health days. But, we have two personal days where I work, so it isn't usually necessary to call in sick when I'm not.

No. I've only had two days off sick in the last 10 years, and then I was too ill to get out of bed.

Nope. Never.
What is the point of seeking employment if you are going to spend your days trying to figure out how to get out of doing a job which you are paid to perform.

Uh, because most people just do their jobs because they HAVE TO in order to survive for the ridiculous cost of living, and not because they genuinely want to?

One is never being PAID to work. You are receiving a fraction of the profits that they make. It's more like you're paying them to let you work and they give you a tiny bit of their profits in return. That's capitalism.

I can count on one hand the times I've called in sick in my life..I very rarely get sick, and even when I am, I go into work. There have been a few times when I was too hungover to even call in.That was in my early 20's..

No, Satan night happened some years hence. Thanks for asking.

The last time I was employed by a Corporation, over the ten years I was there I called in sick once. I also was on the road once and became ill during the week, and my supervisor had flown into town on a regularly scheduled visit and ordered me to stay at the Hotel during the workday, and they'd pick me up at the end of the day and take me home.

As a manager, I frequently was (and once again am) on the other side of the telephone. Those that call in sick and actually are, you get a pass. On the other hand, if you call in sick frequently, you may think you are getting away with that. Riiiiiight. You will begin getting the worst shifts, I may begin to require a Doctor's Note (yes, I'm aware this will cost you...hopefully a LOT, you dolt), you may get a project to do that I KNOW you'll fail at, or you might as well kiss that possible raise or promotion buh-bye. Management is always looking to replace a slacker.

In case you were wondering, Management is ALWAYS taking applications. And looking for better people all the time.

If I have a potential job candidate that I think might be better in a position, all I need is some excuse to replace you. Chronic Absenteeism IS in the Employee Handbook (you did read that, didn't you?)
