  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you censor yourself at JUB?

Always. It is sometimes so difficult to know how the written word will be taken in the absence of facial expressions and body language.

With one very recent exception, I don't hold back to save someone's feelings

I'm not talking about "saving someone's feelings". I'm talking about what should be an innocent post, but is twisted around by those who are not fond of me and turned against me. As many times as I post, there are many other times when I decide not to post.

Sometimes, because as I read what I want to post, I think aw crap I don't want the shit I'm going to read after.

Quite often I'll edit my post quickly - if I think nobody has seen it ;) - if what I'm trying to discuss is a little hard to get your head around. So I censor to prevent confusion, not offense.

So I censor to prevent confusion, not offense.

I'm not even talking about offending anyone. I'm talking about posting something very innocent but knowing that others will probably turn it around and use it against me.

There are so many times I've wanted to post something and then thought, "It's just not worth it."

I just wanted to know if I was the only one who felt that way.

Quite often I've decided that things I wrote were not "worth it", for one reason or another. I try to keep in mind that many people have English as a second language, and so I try to minimize the ways that things can be misinterpreted, but I feel I am also very good at writing things that are very easy to take the wrong way.

I do occassionally think I want to post something and then think; why bother? Usually it is something where I realize that my opinion is not going to change anyone's mind, anyway. Other times I just view it as completely hopeless so I don't do it.

Sounds like you’re walking on egg shells will alligators on either side.

This is one of those moments when I would normally censor myself and back out without posting, but I shall post nonetheless in order to respond to your observation.

Yes, that is exactly how I feel quite often, but the reason that I do so is because some people have extremely long memories.

Some people say things or do things in this forum and are applauded for it. Others can do or to say the same things and be pummelled from all sides because of it. Two people can have and state the exact same opinion, but, because of who they are, one is greeted favourably whilst the other is greeted with animosity.

Unfortunately, I feel I must walk on eggshells because, otherwise, I'd be up to my neck in alligators.

It's healing sometimes to type exactly what you're thinking, but proof read it and realize it's only 'taking their bait' and just not submit it.

I wish others would sometimes do the same.

The only thing I would add to that is 'giving them ammunition'.

Are there others who, like me, 'back out of' a post before clicking the 'submit' button because of the shit you're going to take if you post it?

Yes I back out all the time...most people on here are good and want to hear others ideas or thoughts but it seems to me that there are some that dont want to hear what others think and BAM the shit flies then.

I do, but mostly because when I am mad, my English gets all screwed up, since I start thinking in Spanish

I also learned to avoid certain threads since posting my opinion would be pointless.

You know those threads, the threads that people are either looking for a fight or looking for people to agree wholeheartedly to what they post.

Those I avoid, since posting would be a waste of my time and would make me angry in the end, for no good reason.

And, occasionally, it flies with extreme subtleness in hopes that no-one will make note of it.

I've done it a handful of times

"this is too mean"

"this is over the edge"

but not often enough

I don't mind taking some shit

if u really mean what u write it's ok

if ur just doing it to ellicit a reaction, that sucks - I've done that a few times too - but not as often as some might think

;)

I've done that more than once today.

At some point, you have to move on.

Is this not how it is in the real world?

The * SUPER HOT* get more breaks and more attention?

Trouble for most of them is that they don’t have enough time to become interesting (so many parties....yay!) and when their looks begin to fade they wind up at gay bars @ 40 and using juvenile slang…….

* Bling Bling Baby *

If I didn't know better I'd say that someone is BITTER!

As we say here in Texas, "Poor thang, bless your pea picking heart!"

It’s no secret that super hot people in society have doors open for them with less effort.

In regards to me being bitter?

When I was a younger person with some self esteem issues well maybe I was a little bitter, but I don’t think bitter is the right word as it’s normally a term used for people later in life. I would say back then I felt like I didn’t measure up and was not as good or not as worthy as some of the super hot folks in society.

That was a few moons ago………

I’m older now and a little more experienced and although I felt a little outcastish way back then….today I feel almost invincible!

Tequilla tends to have that effect on people. ;)

Put this comment back in your bag and save it for those that are Super Hot! Because when their mortal flesh begins its inevitable demise, some of those people are going to need a shoulder to cry on.

My attitude about "Super Hot" people is this. Somebody somewhere is sick and tired of their shit. :D

p.s- Texas ranger man…. I see that your post has been edited by a mod! This is what I hate around here, that people can’t say what they want without censorship from the big boys! But if there is anything they prevented you from saying here on open forum then please PM with your assumptions and insight.

I wasn't aware that Mods could edit someone's post without there being a record of it somewhere.
