Do You Eat Fish?

I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat fish.

But from what I remember as a little kid I never used to like it much anyway, I think that smoked haddock and kippers were the only types of fish that I didn't find utterly disgusting (but kippers had all those horrible little bones to deal with).

I love Barramundi filets - the real stuff from the Top End of Australia. Thick, amazing fillets, like nothing else I've ever tried.
I like Tuna steaks, and will eat tuna sushi.
John Dory fillets are terrific too.
I'll eat shrimp grilled and with the head cut off.
I wont eat oysters or scallops because hey...where's the face? I don't want to eat the face. Yuck!

On holiday in Majorca with my long departed boyfriend as a treat we bought swordfish steaks from a local fisherman. All part of my idea of a romantic, champagne dinner on the terrace. Noticing something was wrong I asked and received the answer that he was madly in love with the curtain lady and intended getting married.

Obviously I have not eaten swordfish since.

Frequently...but I DO miss being able to have a really nice piece of cod...

Raybee: I've never heard of barramundi. So thanks for the mouth-watering description...|

Get the bit about its being hermaphroditic.:D The ultimate romantic meal for
bisexuals?;)

Evidently it's available in the UK, so I shall see if I can net some...|

I prefer shell fish to fish with fins.
I enjoy lox (not regular salmon), tuna and swordfish.
I won't go near catfish, both times I tried it it was spoiled and I still remember that horrible taste.
I've heard great things about monk fish and want to try that.
Lately health authorities here in the USA are saying don't eat fish more than once a week.
I wonder if the warning are like so many we've had in the past like eggs are not good for you, then eggs are good for you. The same with coffee, chocolate, milk, wine, pork and other food products. Seems like nutritionists can't make up their minds.
I suppose it's like everything else, enjoy what you like, but everything in moderation.

I try to eat fish at least once a week. And I haven't met a fish I didn't like (though I have discovered, over the years, an allergy to crab and lobster)... only preparations I didn't like. Most people who don't like fish haven't had it prepared properly... my best friend Caroline was absolutely insistent that she hated salmon, but I conned her into having a bite of mine once and now she loves it; turns out, her mother always bought cheap (not-completely-fresh) cuts and then proceeded to overcook them in soy sauce, so she expected it to be dry and briney and fishy-tasting. But braised in butter with some fresh shallots scattered over the top, a little sprinkle of lemon, and some rice pilaf on the side? Heavenly!

I like flounder, trout, and salmon. There's a shad festival in a town near where I live. Shad is a very boney fish, but has a good flavour.

I like all fish, and especially shellfish. I don't like to deal with bony fish, like trout or sole (if they haven't been filleted), but I still like the flavor. I would eat it more often if it weren't so expensive. I especially like wild caught Alaskan salmon, and fortunately the price has come down recently. King Crab legs (my all time favorite) have gotten very reasonable in price also.

Fish is okay but working at a seafood restaurant and smelling and serving so much of it kinda makes you burnt out on it. And I'm allergic to shellfish.

I absolutely love seafood, I could give up other meats but I'm not sure I could cope without the occasional fish or shellfish. However in the UK there are so many overfishing issues it's hard to buy tasty fish without a bit of conscience-bothering.

When I was in Australia I got to like flake, but they don't sell it over here.

And I've never understood the big deal about oysters, I think they're digusting.

Yes I love fish. Most kinds

I don't like dealing with bones.

I eat a lot of raw fish now, and I always loved the fish that my Father used to smoke at home when I was a kid!:D

I have truly been blessed by living in a multi-ethnic environment and traveling a lot:
Because of Afro-American friends I learned to love sardines and Manhattan clam chowder.
Jewish friends exposed me to Lox, Smoked Whitefish and gefite fish, which I adore.
Italians introduced me to the joy of calamari, Frutti di Mare and mussels diavolo.
Mexican-Americans turned me on to Ceviche.
I discovered pickled herring on my own so I can't credit the Scandinavians.
But, as the world gets smaller we are all fortunate to have so many delicious options available.

Unfortunately. I also am allergic to shellfish....all shellfish. But I will have and love all other types of fish.

Since my diet consists mostly of Japanese cuisine, I have fish once or twice a week.

All my life, I have envied those who jump into a plate of lobsters, shrimps, crabs or oysters. They seem to relish it so much. At such do's, I sit by the side with either some beef or if lucky a slab of salmon.

Don't know where I got the allergy, but am the only one in my large family.

Maybe my mother had a thing for some fisherman.LOL

I love fish.

Cod. Haddock. Swordfish. Plaice. Salmon. Trout. Tuna. Sardines. Anchovies.

Yummy. And good for you, with all of those omega fish oils.

What do you think?

I eat a lot of fish. Just had fish today for lunch (red snapper) and catfish a few days ago.

My favorite is orange roughy. And I bought a bunch of tilapia today.

Grouper is good, too.

I love seafood, period.
