  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you enjoy being around your family?

We're having 50 of them out for a BBQ this Saturday.

My family consisted of a grandmother, father and brother and even at the early age of eleven I realised there was really nothing between us all apart from having the same last name.

I moved out at 18yrs old only to return at the deaths of my grandmother and then my brother.

With the passing away of my father I was left as the last remaining member.

Regrets? Yes I think I do regret not having a close knit family and if any were still alive I probably would have made the effort a long time ago to renew bonds.

I enjoy my mums company and my sisters but i've always felt like an "outsider" looking in on them all. Can't really explain any deeper than a feeling i've always had. I put it down to my sexuality but I think as the years have gone on it's something more than my sexuality. I feel more at home with my boyfriend and my cat than I do with them at times. Who knws maybe I really am just the black sheep of the family.

I have grown closer to my older brother as the years go by; we talk about every other week and I enjoy visiting. My younger sister and I are also close although she can be a bit of a pain in the proverbial ass (never returns calls, expects others to come to gatherings at the drop of a hat).

My kids and I are very close; I enjoy whenever we can visit and we talk a couple times a week on the phone. I enjoy both of their partners (they are straight not gay) and will probably have them out for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have two half-sisters and a half-brother still alive; one half-sister has alzheimer's disease and doesn't know anyone. My other half-sister and I always love to visit and have always been close. My half-brother and I have talked more as he has gotten older than we did all of the rest of my life; I enjoy "short" visits!

50 miles seperates me from mine. i used to dread the noisey kids, but , i still love them & i see them on christmas & sporatic holidays
As we lost both our parents we are a lil closer

i grow closer to my twin sister as we get older , the rest i dont care for

For the most part, yes.

My immediate family is great, but emotionally exhausting at times.

My extended family is..... entertaining at best.

i moved 6,000 miles away - and it took me 31 years to go back for a visit -
what do you think?

I love my family but I can't be around them for too long, they judge me too much and I don't like that.

OH DEAR, GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELL NO!!! Hell Fuckin never.... Both my mom and sister would scream and yell at a store, even my dad! NOPE, it is too hard to deal with these DRAMA freaks! Even if grandma is around with us, but when she yells, her deep smoker voice is scary sounding, everyone would just stared at her! No-no-no-no NOPE. NEVER, will I ever go out with them in PUBLIC!

Only at home, but they always fight like we are in the Jerry Springer show moment.

My Mothers side, Yes. I was with my little brothers yesterday, I had more fun with that than being at the Amusement Park.

My Fathers side, for the most part, No. They never liked me and treated me differently for no reason, so I don't see why I should even bother giving them the benefit of the doubt.
That is mess up. Sorry to hear that, but I kinda felt that way from some people in my family on my dad side as well. I think is because I'm more prettier than my cousins. :gogirl:

i love being around family, there are a few exceptions, but hey, no ones family is perfect
