  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you ever sneak in food or drink to the movies?

1) Most don't, they just make less profit precentage than on the rest.
2) To move product. It's a complete lose if it goes bad.

You do have a point though, but so does he. If nothing ever changed though, nothing would go back to the way it was. Because of that we will never really know.

Sorry, most do. Read your weekly ads.

Very large companies will sell an item at cost, or below, to entice you into their doors.

Then they'll fool you into buying all kinds of other crap that they clean up on.

NineofClubs...When you closed the theatre at night did you use left-over popcorn for the next day?

I swear, sometimes the Popcorn can be "hard" and tastes like it is a day old? Most of the time it's fresh...

I use to be a workaholic. I worked a lot. One of those jobs was for a major chain and it was my job to deal with everything dairy related. I not only did most of the ordering, I was also one of three people in the store able to pay for incoming product.

I read the trade papers whenever they came out. It was only a loss during the holidays. It’s not a regular thing.

As a side note: It was better to get them to come in for other things at a cheap price than the staples of their tables. They are going to buy the staples anyway. Get them to come in for a pack of lunch meat, but have them leave also with milk and eggs at a higher than average price. After all people are not going to jump from store to store just for a few cents of savings. Besides in the food business location rules. Most don’t go out of their way just to buy food.

No, we never did.

Popcorn is fairly cheap.

Ok...Let me tell you...One time I asked the Concession clerk if the Popcorn was "Fresh" and you should have seen her "eye-balls"....

"Yes this popcorn was popped today"....

I just wondered why at times it tastes so hard...I know my popcorn...

Actually I never brought my own food to the movies, unless it was a drive-in movie (do those still exist???).

We have one about 20 minutes from Salem, but it is only open during the summer.

I've snuck fast food into the movies before.

But once when I went with my glass we brought some HI-C pouches or maybe caprisun, candy, and chips.

That was epic.

Yes, always. The movies here steal money from the audiences.

I even sneaked in a box of full course meal into the movies the last time.!oops!

Milk costs more than gasoline and is a fairly renewable source. :)

1) gasoline isn't delicious.

2) If movie theater concession stands sold milk, it would be even more expensive than it is at the grocery store.

Finally: Wouldn't concession stands make a lot more money on sales if they priced them reasonably? Y'know, by having a much higher volume of people actually spending money on them?
