I don't understand why adults can't share contrary opinions with each other.
Generally I will venture into any thread, and call it as I see it. I don't expect compliance with my opinion, but I do look for dialogue. Once in a while it is nice to learn something or explain something to someone and thereby change my mind or change someone else's. If it doesn't happen I'm not too worried about it.
When's the last time you changed your mind?
In my case it is probably about NATO in CE&P.
I do think most NATO countries need to take their treaty responsibilities more seriously and stop relying on the US, Britain and France to carry the burden for them. Canada does okay, but still should do more. That conclusion took a while to reach because it is easy to be distracted by the ridiculous amounts of military over-expenditure by the US. However the imbalance is not just in excessive US militarism but also in imprudent European pacifism. Anyway that took some convincing before I'd go there.
