  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you feel appreciated at your job?

Sometimes.
I think they know I´m very productive (more than many there), but I´m a questioner, what makes some people angry because they like people who is not opinionated. But I don´t worry: they are obligated to endure me!

I guess I've been appreciated enough. But I am glad to say that it's time to go. I am retiring from this job - after 18 years - on Friday, April 13. It's time to say goodbye to crazy hours and too-frequent trips to the Lehigh Valley. After April 12 I am never going back to the Lehigh Valley unless I am invited.

I'm always being thanked for my work. The owner knows how much I do, and comps me for it. He gives me gift cards, takes me to dinner, gives me tickets to events and games, and other ways.

You are fortunate, I worked for a few like that, but most were dickheads.

I could go on and on but I’ll just say no. That’s why I’m home right now instead of being there. I called out this morning telling them I needed a personal day. And there ain’t shit they can do about it.

For the most part, yes. Both my jobs make it clear to me that they're very thankful for what I do. Unfortunately, neither one can afford to express that gratitude with a huge raise. :)
