Do you go to Pride Parades?

Philly Pride has had a fairly major breakdown and the parade is under new management.

Was that breakdown due to an argument about whether or not to exclude gay police from the parade? I know that's happened in other cities. The suggestion that police who are actually on our side -- especially police who are gay themselves -- should be excluded just because they're police infuriated me.

^^It was more of an "inclusion" thing, making sure all LGBTQ people felt represented and welcome.

I, too, resent exclusion of police presence. Bad policing needs reform, not dissolution.

I have never heard of any controversy about police presence at parades and Pridefests locally. Indeed, many openly LGBTQ+ officers volunteer for duty, and I welcome their presence. I get the feeling they are WITH us, and FOR us.

Fagstaff has had a pride festival for (I think) 15-20 years, but we just had our first parade this year. I've been to the festival quite a few times, and I marched in the parade this year with my theatre. They're fun, but I can't take a full day of festivities. It wears me out.
