  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you guys like my avatar?

I am embarrassed to even know that you are of the same race as me.

Lolz, reminds me of The Simpsons. XD So anything that does that is great! ;D

religious symbols as avatars . So you have a fat laughing humanoid eating ( comment , especially desserts ) and then you have the more common Christian symbol , the crucifix , which is an instrument of slow torture and death , sometimes with a replica of the corpse of the guy killed on it ( a more modern equivalent might be an electric chair or noose though perhaps they might make less appropriate jewellery for children ) . So fatness or stigmata .

I am embarrassed to even know that you are of the same race as me.

I'm assuming you are talking about the human race?

I'm assuming that the elephant waving the Chick Fil A drumstick is wrapped in the American flag?

I just put on my first avatar on JUB!Do you guys like it? Actually did you know the word "avatar" comes from Hindu mythology? Anyways, my avatar is a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha.........Ganesha is commonly known as the Hindu god with an elephant head. He has a large pot-belly because He is known for eating a lot, especially desserts. Ganesha is known in Hindu mythology as the "remover of obstacles, and the bearer of good luck & success." Do you guys like my avatar?

Hi JQ, yap, I like your avatar very much. I think this avatar fits very well with you, and thanks for providing us with some details about the background why you have choosen this avatar. Besides that, I like this kind of avatars.

A few years ago, I have made a trip to Nepal and we also visited alot of Hindu temples and Hindu statues. Likely, we also have been seen various statues of Ganesha? It seems a bit silly, but I have forgotten many details, though I have very good memories towards this trip to Nepal.

Nope, I did not know that the world 'avatar' comes from Hindu mythology. By the way, did you discuss with your dad everything what has been written on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_topics_and_Hinduism ?

Best wishes & good luck.

Nice hijack job, I thought this was about an avatar, which I like. It reminds me of me, except my trunk is shorter....

And how dumb does one need to be that some can "glue" your ass shut? LMAO! Come on! Use a brain people! How many other urban legends are you going to barf up? Too damn funny! Glued asses! LOL! As if!

It's as stupid as the "freezing my ass off (literally)" letter of urban legend fame:

I wouldn't be surprised that the people who perfected things like achetylcholinestrese inhibitors as a weapon to kill Kurds and Kuwaiti's wouldn't be able to do this.

Whether it's an urban myth or not, we know that the Islamic world is a repressed world in which rape victims are punished and gays are hanged.

The fact that you've selected some silly "god" as your avatar - and then insulted that "god" - speaks volumes about you as a person.

Remember that when you whine about being disliked. It's because you're fucking depressing as a human caricature.

Before any of you 'mouths of knowledge continue the education process of
the rabble (us) I would suggest you google Ganesha (or one of HIS variants)

Your collective determination of the appropriateness as an avatar is not only
arrogant and ill-conceived but brutally prejudiced as well.

Not a Muslim or Hindi or Xtian or even Atheist any more than I am a Computer
nerd. My understanding is that in the "wizard" world, you use an avatar as
the expression of your alter ego, maybe an Icon to which you aspire. While I
do not adhere to the faith of Ganesha, I can and do admire what it stands for.
My avatars and sigs.banners whatever have expressed my alter ego, my
self that I aspire to in symbols.

Avatars of dripping cocks and grotesqueries or that ilk are OKAY? They express
the essence of the Jubber? A recent brouhaha over management commanding
all individual avatars to remember and respect a suicide...okay...in my opinion...
poor decision. A recurring banner would have been appropriate, not someone
coming into my house (so to speak) and ordering what pics I hang on my walls.

Jay, I don't know you beyond a few posts..some of which I didn't like. But this
is a medium of communication not pissing contests or cat fights. Your avatar...
not my taste...but also not offensive...if nothing else, it is a piece of art. Adhere
to its standard and I (my icons and gallery) will support your right to identify
and share Jay...at least on public transport I won't have to hide your postings
for fear it will offend some one.

Okay, mouthy me will shut up now.........btw, my avi and that bottom thing are
changed/ing too.....Thank google for the bad translation below but.

माँ आप सभी को पृथ्वी आशीर्वाद
Ibu Bumi Berkat untuk anda semua
The blessings of Gaea to you all...

I don't understand the drama and gnashing of teeth over a stylized figurine bought at a curio stall.

JQ: avatar away to your heart's content.

Note: I would use Lefty's as it is colorful.

To answer the original question........No, I don't like it. But so what?

JaiQueer, I'm going to prod you a little more--and just one last time so as not to fully be a pain.

But as you have raised the topic, it invites discussion. So why the selection of this particular image? I don't believe it's clear what it stands for. It (the first) could be a beautiful and priceless family heirloom....a simple marker of your heritage...an endorsement of communal intolerance...a symbol of social elitism...a tool of meditative contemplation...an object of adoration...so on and so forth.

Would you be willing to clarify more?

To be fair, do I like it? Yes, for many reasons.

However, I'm also wary of fundamentalism in any guise. If the image is meant to recall the likes of Bal Thackeray, then, no, I do not like it.

The image represented by the avatar is beautiful. The elephant is facing the wrong direction, though.

I still like it Jay. After rifling through some of your posts, I think that

you intended the spirit of 'Ganesha' and no religious comment. I like

that concept very much.......my own Avi and gallery reflect the me that

is often occluded by posts ... go JQ go.
