  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

do you hate any "normal" foods?

I can't eat anything with coconut. I can't even stand the smell.

As for everyone hating olives, then More For ME! :D right now, in the fridge, I have olives stuffed with pimento, olives stuffed with garlic, olives stuffed with anchovies and olives stuffed with jalapenos.

Add me to the mushroom and olive haters list. Dunno why, they're just gross. Onions took me a while to like, but I sure am glad my palate has changed over the years.

Some seafood still grosses me out, but the norm like crab and shrimp I'm fine with now-a-days.

Raw meat of any kind is a no, no, NO for me. So is anything insect or organ related. Liver, intestines, etc, NO. *barf*

4 American "favorite-sides" you can't pay me to Eat....Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Broccoli and Banana Pudding...

I agree with cilantro, aka chinese parsley, gawd awful stuff that make anything it touches unpleasant.

A long time ago I hated the smell and taste of mushy peas, but growing older, it is less offensive.

I'm not keen on shellfish, especially oysters, yuck. Dad use to deep fry them in batter, and it was fricking awful.

And memories from school: Imagine full fat milk in a bottle with a silver top, sitting in a crate, placed next to the radiator in a room that's hot and stuffy. Milk was compulsory drinking just before 10:45 playground time. The warm creamy feeling and the smell and taste of warm milk made me head straight to the toilet at break time and vomit it all up.

Whenever a recipe calls for Cilantro I always use the dried herbs..."Fresh" is waaaay too strong...

^ I never thought of it as tasting like soap but it is god awful nasty disgusting stuff.

I totally agree on cilantro. It is absolutely vile and ruins everything it touches. And often restaurants don't even have the courtesy to tell you that they are adding it. Not a big fan of regular parsley either.

Cannot, will not, you can't make me eat:

Sea Food/fish.
Brussels Sprouts.
Cauliflower.
Guacamole.
Lima Beans.
Liver/hearts/tongue.
Cole Slaw.
Cabbage/Sour Crout.
Beets.
Turnips.

Yup. I hate bananas.

I've been told my grandmother hated them too. I take after her in many ways.

I get so disappointed when I find bananas in otherwise innoucous-looking baked goods.

I don't like olives much, either. But mushrooms! They're a leading crop here in southeastern Pemmsylvania. Although they do make certain areas near the town of Kennett Square smell really funky...

asparagus
cucumbers
tomatoes
olives
lima beans
fried oysters
chili of any kind
lasagna

Meat.
Seafood.
Goat cheese (tastes like you ate rather too much of it an hour ago and it's now fighting to get out).
Norisushi (I hate seaweed).

Seeing as I prob hate just abt every food known to man off the top of my head my big ones are:

mayo
cold cheese
sea food
pork
ice cream
corn
olives
beef (though I will eat it sometimes if its VERY well done or burnt)

and I wont eat anything diced (like veggies on a salad) gross

Hot cereal
Lima Beans
Tofu
Mango
Star Fruit
Salmon (I think I'm allergic)
Bananas (Banana Bread is pretty good with generous serving of butter)
Margarine/'Spread'
Runny eggs (and please don't put ketchup on them if you're eating with me)
Dry crumbly cookies at Christmastime
Dirty Rice
Any kind of melon
Squash

I like pretty much all foods.

I don't think this would be considered "normal" but egg drop soup is disgusting.

Almost all kinds of cheese, though I can tolerate smaller amounts of it. the common cheese-with-potatoes dish is something that I alternatively call "potatoes all rotten."

I have to agree about the olives, but I absolutely DEVOUR mushrooms! I probably eat about 20 or 25 pounds of mushrooms per year (10kg) which I'm sure is far more than average.

MILK chocolate candy. (It's just too sweet for me, and not chocolatey enough. I won't share my dark chocolate bars with Dynk. And I can be assured he's not gonna ask me to.)

In fact I dislike almost all types of candy other than dark chocolate and caramel.

KRISPY KREME DONUTS. Yuckypoo!! Way too damn sweet. (I'm glad I thought of something that nobody else mentioned...)

sweet potatoes/yams (OK, another that nobody mentioned)

Tomato soup, potato soup (just too plain and boring - though I love clam chowder which is NOT that far removed from potato soup.)

DISLIKES WHICH WERE ON THE LIST MOST OF MY LIFE, but I like now: bananas (I generally have one every day, but wouldn't eat them until about 15 years ago), raisins (only started eating those the past year or two), coffee.

This isn't food as such, but almost all "hard liquor" - and especially Scotch and rum have their own palaces in Hell reserved for them.

I don't dislike corn, but I eat *very* little of it, once I found out its dietary and nutritional attributes are not very good.

And, TUNA. (I "live for" fish of almost all kinds, but oddly I very much dislike this most popular variety of fish!)

Anything that is "really buttery" - especially something like Chicken Kiev - blecchh!! I've know of at least some places in Wisconsin which do fish fries with fake butter flavor in the batter...on a scale of 0 to 10 on my dislikes-to-loves, one place's lake perch which would otherwise be about a 9.5 to 9.7 for me is demoted all the way down to about 0.8 because of the obnoxiously intense butter flavor they use (which is actually far more intense than butter itself would be). (Oh, I'd better clarify - "fish fries" are NOT some strange fried mixture of ground up potatoes and fish or anything like that - they are **EVENTS** usually on Fridays, where the restaurant or pub fries up large quantities of fish, usually cod or haddock or a lake fish, for customers.)

I forgot eggs. I just don't like the taste and the smell; when I'm not healthy, they can make me vomit out. But eeriely, I can eat egg-based desserts pretty fine.

I agree with cilantro, aka chinese parsley, gawd awful stuff that make anything it touches unpleasant.

Cilantro is delicious! I put it in porridge and Chinese soups. :D
But i have to agree with parsley, even though some salad dressings can help cover the strong unpleasant aroma.

Wow...reading this made me think I gooble everything you guys dislike

You must have something you don't touch on a regular basis (not talking about bitter gourds here, though I like them )...otherwise you're a black hole o.o"
