As of late I have had to take over most chores. I already did the cooking and the wife washed the dishes.
I found myself worn out as I was waiting on her as well, so I bought a dish washer, I never knew how much time they could save.

I am wondering how common they are, do you have one? If so what country do you live in?

Yes I have a dishwasher. It saves energy, water, and time.

Butt some utensils need hand attention.

I love my dishwasher. I love clean dishes. I fill it full, use biodegradable soap and use the energy efficient setting.

I just installed a new one last month, which made me feel like quite a manly man. Oh, I cursed as I was sprawled on the kitchen floor, and it took a couple tries to get the drain line attached correctly. But I saved some cash DIY and it felt like a small accomplishment.

It's quiet. Wouldn't do without one, as long as I'm busy outside my home.

Yes, we have a dishwasher and live in the U.S. We use paper plates and I don't think that you can put pots and pans into the dishwasher, so it takes too long to assemble a full load for the dishwasher. We also feel like we need to clean the dishes off before putting them into the dishwasher, so we usually wash dishes by hand unless we have company and have a lot of dishes.

When I bought my current house, there was no dishwasher. What the hell? It was previously owned by an older couple. They had renovated the house. Brand new sidings, roof, furnace, and bathrooms. Why in the world didn't they just put in a damn dishwasher?

The first thing I did to the house was rip out the carpet and put in wooden floor. The 2nd thing I did was redesign the kitchen to double the counter top areas and added in a dishwasher. Completely gutted the kitchen and put in all new everything. Dishwasher is a must!

Yes, you can put pots and pans in a dishwasher. Some of the better machines have a setting just for them, in fact. Not all dishes are dishwasher safe, however, like crystal glassware (Waterford would be an example) and fine china, unless your machine has a setting for that. Crystal will get etched and become cloudy over time.

We have dishwashers and live in the US.

hate house work in general and dish washing in particular---find it gross---so of course I have a dishwasher---put it on fast cycle and everything comes out perfect.

I've had a dishwasher for a few years now, I absolutely love it. I always absolutely hated doing dishes, so it's a nice appliance to have. I have a portable unit that you wheel over to the sink and hook up to the faucet. It's a good model too, and it does a nice job. Some of the cheaper ones don't clean worth a shit.

I remember I was at a friend's house for supper, and his siblings whined about having to do the dishes, even though they had a dishwasher. Basically, putting a few remaining dishes in, putting the soap in, and then pushing a button. They'd probably laugh and think you were joking if you told them to do a sink full of dishes by hand! And then shit themselves when they find out you're serious. :-)

Then there's people who do the dishes by hand, with soap and everything, then they rinse them.... then they put it in the dishwasher. That is nothing more than a waste of time, water, and energy.

It only gets used twice a year, xmas and new year when family are staying, all other times it's not worth it for just my mess.

I have a lovely dishwasher.....have never turned it on. I am not really sure if it has ever been used...might be new.

I have been an antique dealer for years..and i know what it does to glass and dishes...and the film never comes off....

I hate staging an estate sale at a home that has used the dishwasher extensively because I feel like i have to put the glass and dishes in bright light so everyone knows what they are getting and usually it is a pain in the ass to figure out where to pt it all so everyone can see the damage....

I wash my dishes right after I use them so there are never any dirty dishes....seems easier...

I have gone from a kitchen with one to a kitchen without. So I am washing everything by hand which requires a little organisation. You need to wash up as you go or the amount at the end is just too depressing.

I found myself doing dishes 3 times a day, I couldn't stand looking at then in the sink. Now I hide them in the dishwasher and run it once a day, I never saw the importance of one until I did the dishes.
