Do you have a "fallback" plan?

As our government tries to cover tax breaks for billionaires and bail out the banks after they rip us all off, we also have to think about retirement and how we deal with that.

Do you get a matching 401K or any other goodies?

OH totally. Titan's got a pretty competitive employee benefits package. 401K, medical, dental... a few other smaller things (including I often get use of the massive Titan houses in Palm Springs and I invite 10-15 guys and we have a 4-day blowout party).

But the most important thing was that 401K. I'm not going to be wanting to make porn forever and there's no way to know where or how the industry will evolve over the next 25 years until I'm retiring age anyway.

Too many people don't think about retirement soon enough. I started my 401K when I was 22.

Been there, done that since I'm out from art class in 2012

I turned 65 last October, my "official" retirement age (according to Uncle Sam) is 66.5. Yeah! I'm a "Boomer"! :slap:

I've been with my current company for 25yr, and "fell" into the Print Biz 10yr. before that. I've been an "Imaging Tech", very close to what Jasun does (though static). ..|

If you've ever read a magazine, or shopped through a catalog, the odds you've seen my work (and not realized it) are very high.

I've worn many hats in "The Kingdom", which is a diversified, international, corporation, and the second largest printer on the planet. \:/

In addition to prophet sharing, which included cash and company stock, rolled into my (limited) matching 401K, I had a decent cushion before the recent stock market "down turn".

SO ... will I retire at 66.5? The bank says ... NO! ](*,)

At current rates, there is no way I could live on Social Security alone. But with that, and being able to draw on my 401K, I figure I'd be O.K. for about 10yr. after whatever date I might retire. :gogirl:

But, what happens after that if I'm still around?

I don't need/want another job. What I could use is another "Income Stream". :D

As far as my bod goes, Donation :dead: has become a more likely possibility than Selling it (!). [-X

Does anyone have any other ideas? :help:

I'm a millennial, so we don't get careers any more. I can't really say I have a 'plan'. I just bounce job to job, hoping they offer more than a six month contract.

I have no back up plan, as there is always a demand for my occupation.

At the moment with G at university most of the bills fall to me. This bothers me not in the slightest, it is part and parcel of any loving partnership.

Our finances will improve in a few years, even though we are nowhere near the bread line.

I don't know mate, if Hunt keeps going you're about to get flooded with junior doctors.

^They would be more than welcome here, we have a lack off trainee GP's and GP's in general. Just now we have an american Dr working in the practice. Although he is soon moving to pastures new.

I'm very fortunate financially in that I work because I want to rather than because I need to. If I lost my job tomorrow, there would have to be some economies I suppose, but I certainly wouldn't starve. I would probably look for a part-time job or maybe a volunteering opportunity to feed my protestant work ethic.

Allen Saunders: Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.

I live one day, at a time.

Too many people die before they have time to retire, and enjoy the benefits of their pension, and life beyond work.

Enjoy today...it may be your last....

Thinking of the future, or not reminds me that the future will come, or not:D

Might, as, well, use, some, more, commas, where, they're, not, needed, instead, of, saving, them, for, the, future, that, may, or, may, not, come

I would do nude modeling!

HEHEHE! Just kidding...I'd probably crack the camera lens.....

If I were no longer a teacher, I would pursue one of my passionate pursuits, writing. I already have several projects mulling around in my head for when I retire from teaching. I can retire at age 55, and with the current state of politicians having no respect for our profession, I am definitely planning to retire when I hit that age!

Thus the need to balance things and provide for the future but not sacrifice too much so that you are unable to enjoy the present.

Here I am retired with no real financial worries so seems my fallback plan worked.

"Retire" means people just suddenly stop working at a certain age.
This is not good. Why don't they work less and less and less until maybe they work only 1 hour per week ....

I have absolutely no idea what I want in life to begin with.

You could probably say my current job IS the fallback plan.
