I have a scar on my knuckle from a kitchen accident. That's it for me (so far).

One under my chin from a diving accident in the Bahamas aged 5.

One on my lower right quadrant from appendectomy.

Various others from minor scratches.

For those on this side of The Pond, a 'mangle' is a wringer machine to wring out wet clothes. (Nora Batty had one.)

Though in my case it rolled the flesh back an inch exposing bone and tendons.

I'm familiar with a mangle being used to iron things flat, an ironing machine.

Burnt the edges of my butterfly-soul's lepidopteron wings and thereby tinged their edges with sin-deep soot ever-gradienting to never-ingratiating scarlet...

eyebrow accident as a kid knee accident as a kid. Considering all the shit I did as a kid surprised I'm not covered in scars.

Only the scar deeply etched into my heart.

I had the same operation as yourself, I too was very aware of the scare. My wise Aunt said “can you see it without a mirror, if not then you don’t have to look at it”. It was only noticeable for the first few weeks, once it started to heal the scar almost disappeared.
