Do you have one of these in your kitchen?

If you put one of these in your kitchen or on a table somewhere in the house they really brighten the place up.

The problem is when buying them online I noticed that they arrive broken and it can be annoying. Amazon seems to do this a lot.#-o It seems to be really hard to actually buy one online that doesn't come broken.

How many do you have ?

Not a great fan of chickens, mental birds.

I don't collect them I just needed the one for the kitchen, but twice, I've purchased them online and twice they've arrived chipped and cracked.

They look pretty good if they aren't broken lol.

I'm appalled!!

(At least she's not talking to her sister, Violet. She married the turf accountant and drives a Mercedes. The one with a swimming pool, sauna, and room for a pony.)

Actually we do have some. Since we live in an old farmhouse....they aren't too out of place in a country kitchen.

Around 20 of them......mostly picked up at auctions over the years.

And we do use them for stuff.

Keep your eyes open in the antique shops.

Ordering them and having them shipped probably is a bit high risk.

My favourites are a couple of cocks......no surprise.

I have some tea pots and ceramic pitchers shaped like a strawberry and a peach, two ceramic animal heads a pig and a bull. I like that kind of kitch, except if there is too much of it....be careful not to over do it....

I have worlds of kitchen flotsam up on the cabinet tops, as I despise the cheap cabinets they put in my kitchen (the original owners), but no crockery of that sort. I'll take some pics sometime so you can put me in the appropriate hoarder subcategory.

I managed to find one in a shop today.

It was in one piece too.:D

I have a beautiful brown hen cookie jar that belonged to my grandmother. It's a sentimental favorite of mine. :D

I'm prepping to sell my place, I'm a realtor and regularly help people through this process. I've been consulting with the pro's I know and am now trying to come up with a plan to pack away and make life or death decisions on these very items....I must reduce by a third....or more...

The problem is that Amazon uses computer monitoring of its packers in its warehouses. The packers are required to maintain a rate that is almost impossible for a human. They do not have time to pack fragile materials properly.

You should order fragile materials from a source other than Amazon (although the Amazon model is fast being copied by most of the other internet retailers).

Having a ceramic rooster, or on a dish towel, picture, trivet, etc., is an old wives tale and supposed to be for good luck, health, and prosperity. I don't think it works with chickens though...just cocks. I don't have one in my kitchen, except when I'm in there ;)

I do have a ceramic elf cookie jar on top of my refrigerator though..and a few other kitsch things.
