I do, but older people still use imperial for a lot of things. We started getting rid of imperial in 1973 so its fair enough - even more so as I don't think schools bothered to teach metric only till the late 80s.

I actually go with cm's on that - most people seem to understand as they can have a visualisation of cm's at smaller amounts. I can understand when it gets to 190 cm it can be more confusing than 6' 3", but I really struggle with imperial for anything as I have never been taught it.

At my height almost nobody I come across from day to day is noticeably taller than me, except you lot who are 6½ feet. I see a billion guys every day who are 4 inches shorter than me and my mind equalizes it to "He and I are all basically average height." A guy who is 5'10" just doesn't seem like a shorty, and I'm used to seeing that all the time. But a guy 4 inches taller and it's like "holy shit he's really tall..." even though it is the same difference.
