Yup, after a half century of listening to it, it's been drilled into my head.

It's in two languages - know all of the one I learnt in childhood, and maybe half the second one (mumbles)

home country (USA): yes
hubby's homeland (Newfoundland): yes (having once been an independent country, Newfoundland has it's own national anthem)
current country of residence (Canada): yes in English, can fake it in French

Well, the national anthem goes like this: Naa na naaa naaaa naaaa naaaaaa. Naa na naaa naaaa naaaa naaaaaa. Naa naa naaaaaa naa naa, (I forgot the rest, don't know the lyrics very much)

Not only do I know the entire US National Anthem, I also know the Canadian National Anthem as well. One of the benefits of watching a ton of hockey ;)

Au Francais?

I know both the US and Canadian anthems too from hockey but only in English. Rene Rancourt is a Boston tradition at Bruins games and has been for 30-something years.

I know the Canadian anthem word for word in both official languages. I also know the American Anthem word for word

Do you know the words to your national anthem ?

I only know the first couple of lines of Flower Of Scotland, can you do better ?

Never mind all that Flower of Scotland bollocks, do you know the words of the actual National Anthem Bender?

Does anyone ?

Well apart from members of the BNP.

Apparently, Scotland and England do not have "official" National Anthems, but "God Save the Queen" is the de facto National Anthem of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and many British territories.

Is this what you mean Unload?

(*S*) ;)

j/k...The real God Save the Queen is a most beautiful song and its melody is the basis for My Country, 'Tis of Thee here in the U.S.

<<Alons enfants de la patrie ... >>

Or, wait! I'm not French! #-o :slap:

^ Chaz, when my parents heard this they dropped dead, lol.

I know the first verse of ours (more or less - there's one or two words I keep messing up); but then we in Australia are blessed with a national anthem that is banal, asinine, pointless, and dull. The tune fits the lyrics well in lacking the slightest amount of majesty or grandeur. I've never learned the second verse.

When I was young, there was no "Australian National Anthem" as such, we just sang the English national anthem "God Save The Queen". And I know the first and third verses of that. However, these two verses now form the complete official British national anthem. There used to be a full six verses, but I don't know if any of those other verses were ever sung. However, I find the warlike nature of some of the verses pretty funny.

I sang the HELL out of The National Anthem during Middle School & High School events...The more I sang it the more I played with it....I slowed it down or sped it up every time I sang it...I would Stand Near my School's Basketball players and I could feel & see them from the corner of my eye staring at me as I Sang the Anthem...I could hear my classmates telling me to "Sang it boy"...LOL..

As a Tenor I could hit The Highs notes and Sustain them and when I ended the Anthem on "And the Home of the Braaaave" I would raise my left Arm and Slowly glide my arm & hand to the Flag hanging in the middle of the Court or if I was at a Football Game I would Glide my hand to my School's team in the Stands....

I loved every Freaking minute of it because I have been singing all my Life and I will sing till I'm Dead.....Any singer Famous or not will tell you that Singing is a Gift that you have to unleash because it's a part of your Soul and who you are.....

Singing during School was the ONLY reason I was Popular...The ONLY reason...
