It seems every time I get lunch and onions are an option on sandwiches I hear at least a few in the queue say "no onions". I wonder in our little community what the preference is. Do you generally like them or not. Cooked make a difference or type of onion?

For me, I prefer them cooked but will never buy a purple onion or white. Shallots are best IMO.

But they can give you oniony breath...

I love onions raw or cooked, I put them on hamburgers, pizza in salads, I cook with them, I am an onion freak!

Onions are best cooked, unless they are Maui Sweet or Vidalia onions, which have a sweet flavor.
I like a slice of raw Vidalia Onion with a liverwurst sandwich on rye bread (and plenty of mustard!)

I also love them on burgers, hotdogs, and Italian sausage.

I like them either way, but I know my sisters can't eat them without giving them heartburn. Probably why a lot of people ask to exclude them.

I eat onions.

Both cooked and uncooked.

Love onions. Eat them raw and cooked. I'll add onions to whatever I'm cooking. I do like red onions raw more than cooked and the opposite for white onions.

I love all kinds of onions, cooked or not. Y'all who don't like it at all, y'all don't know what you are missing!

I don't really care for them. The taste doesn't really bother me but the texture whether cooked or raw does. They don't really add anything for me when they are included in a dish, so I prefer them to be left out.

Couldn't agree more!!! yum. I especially love the little minced onions on McDonalds cheeseburgers.

I can't get enough onions ...when I go to Subway and they come to the green peppers and onions I keep saying "MORE MORE MORE" I also like onion and pepper sandwiches with sweet onion sauce.

My cousin used to make a side dish for the holidays of the small pearl onions in a white sauce. They were delicious. Wish I had the recipe.

I also use onions when I make any type of roasted meat. I usually slice onions into quarter-inch wide discs and line the bottom of my roasting pan with them (and a little water). Then I lay my meat, and seasoned potatoes and carrots on top if them. The onions on the bottom of the pan prevent the meat and potatoes from sticking to the bottom, and they taste good when scooped up from the pan with the potatoes.

Wow...the overwhelming response so far is positive. I am surprised. Only birddog7 and bort138 dislike them so far.....

I think onions go especially well in leek and potato soup but well cooked. Otherwise, I cook them almost every time I have any stir fry.

I love onions in everything. To me a base trifecka for optimal food is onion, garlic and celery sauteed in olive oil and a bit of cracked pepper..... start there and everything is close to heavenly......
