I don't like them but I can tolerate them for my blood sugar test(A1C) as it is only once every three months. If i watch and see the blood filling the vial its all over, I pass out.

I don't mind needles. I know the reason for getting stabbed is far more important than the pain of the quick prick.

My straight buddy however is terrified of needles! He faints at the thought of one. When it was time to get the blood test for his wedding, he fainted as the nurse reached for tray. He fell off the table and hit his head on a countertop and had to get five stitches on his forehead!

I've had a needle straight through my big toe, four times (twice for each), literally entirely through the depth of it almost coming out of the other side, with a phobia of anything to do with toes.

I really fucking hate them, but I'll sit through it if I must.

I hate needles, but unfortunately they are part of life.

I have very small veins and they are difficult to find.

Lab techs who specialize in drawing blood never seem to have a problem. They are the only ones I allow to draw blood from me.

I can't stand needles what-so-ever. When I was 18, I went to the doctor, because I was real sick. I mean, I was just shaking all the time. But I was sitting in the room waiting. This woman, who was a student nurse, and she was nice, but she was just a brick wall. She started with my right arm. She poked me and didn't even get the vein. So she decided to try again. She still missed the vein. Next she moved to my left arm. I was surprised when she got that vein. You know what, she went for my right arm again. When she poked me for a third time in that arm, I just wanted to swing my left arm around and knock her upside the head. I would have told her, "Sorry, bad reflex." But yeah, it was a pain trying to get me to go to the doctor when I was younger. Well, I really think that's enough about needles from me.

I have a clotting disorder so I used to have blood taken for tests every now and then when I was younger. I loved watching the blood make its way up the tube.

However that clotting disorder also means that I've never had jabs into the muscle, and I'm not sure I could stomach that!

I hate pricks too writerken .....

Next time you go for a bloodtest, take this sign with you.

Oh why, oh why, can't I be the first to come up with this stuff.
Thanks. I get pricks a lot, from the doctor that is or the PA or the nurse. Or the . . .:D

I've had them in my ass, I've hard them in my arm, I've been pricked for blood in my inner elbow, back of my hand and wrists. Not fun, but they do feel tender afterwards, especially when drawing blood is involved. Injections aren't too bad.

it really helps to be at a doctor's office or hospital that spends money on good needles. a few weeks ago i got a shot from this long ass needle (well, maybe 2 inches or so) and it looked so thick yet i felt less then i have felt for my last 5 flu shots with those short and super fine needles. the nurse told me you can tell which hospitals spend money on their patients by how little you feel when they stick you with their needles.

I had five injections on Monday against all sorts of viruses, in preparation for my next move. I am so used to having injections and blood taken, that I am rather used to it. No biggie. On Tuesday me left arm hurt a bit, but the following day everything was back to normal.

When in the A&E dept. a while back, the doctor couldn't hit the vein five or more times. I was trembling quite a bit, which made it quite difficult for her, I guess. Anyway, the next day I looked like a total junkie with all those marks on my arm...

Most doctors do suck at it! Give me a nurse any day, the odds are better she/he will do it right!
What about lab techs? I mean, afterall, that's what they're trained to do! ;)

Having blood drawn doesn't bother me. In fact, when I do have it taken, I usually watch. Of course, seeing as how I plan on going into medical laboratory technology, it's good that it doesn't bother me! :p

The last time I looked at a needle while getting some blood work done - I fainted. Does that answer your question?

I hate the things.

My younger childhood self, actually ran away from a doctor's office, using the old "just let me go to the bathroom first." trick.

Many other times, I've needed to be held down, whilst uttering more obscenities than the kid from "The Exorcist".

Now, I'm a bit more subdued about them. I still hate them, and work myself into a panic when I find out I need one. So much so, that most nurses and doctors are worried I'm about to faint either before or after they stick me.

When, oh when, will that needless injector finally replace the old one?

Not the one I was thinking off, but it looks cool doesn't it?

Needles don't bother me, though I refrain from watching the needle going in... it's kinda gross. My veins are terribly easy to find, big and blue and wondrously clear, so it's never been a serious problem.

Last time I got an immunization shot, however, I yelled so loud I scared the crap out of the nurse.

"Don't be such a baby," she said, shaking her head at me.

"You said it would pinch! That was not a pinch! That fucking hurt!"

"Language, language," she scolded.

"You shouldn't lie to people. That was not a pinch."

I had the same trouble when I got my ears pierced... they told me it would be a pinch, but it was a lightning-bolt of mind-shattering pain. I guess I'm just a pussy about pain.

Not scared of needles but three weeks ago I had to have an injection in my right eye.

Now tha's scary. Watching the doctor come towards your open eye; held open by special pincers,

It does not matter that the eye was frozen. You still get a shiver down your back!

I hope never to have another such prick in my life.

The only prick I took issue with was a lumbar puncture (a spinal tap) when I was younger. I suppose the discomfort outweighed the results (no meningitis), but it still wasn't a fun experience.

My brothers were sickly when I was growing up, so they spent a lot of time in hospitals. Me, I never was seriously sick

Result, neither of them is afraid of needles, me I cannot even look at them. If my dentist is going to use novocaine (sp?) I remove my contact lenses...
