  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Do you like to cook?

I love to cook! I'm a good cook, and most love to eat what I cook.

I don't mind doing the dishes either. I might rinse and save them for the next day, but it's kind of like therapy. I wash and release tension at the same time.

I like to cook, but when yer cooking for one there's a lot of things you can't really make -- like soufflés.

But I never thought of cleaning up as the hard part. I just put everything in a plastic tub, fill it up with water & do the dishes in the morning. Peeling & slicing & dicing are the parts I don't enjoy...

I really enjoy cooking because I like to eat well.

Which is becoming a problem when I go out to eat with friends. 9 times out of 10 what is being passed off as 'food' in a restaurant is something I can make much better for about 1/4 the cost.

Just the other night it was cold and rainy, and I'd found a 3 pound bag of Organic onions on sale for $1.49. Made a pot of French Onion Soup (with some really amazing cheese melted on top) that beat anything I've ever had at a restaurant (with the exception of a little place in Montreal around 20 years ago).

omg, it's just like the opposite for me. Every time I do dishes, it reminds me how much of lazy/dirty bums my roommates (3) are. ](*,) Good thing I keep them in check on the dishes, so nothing is left in there for more than 36 hrs even I appear to be a grouchy clean freak.. it does help. :p

I'm ok with doing my own dishes though, because usually when I cook (for myself) I don't use many pans/pots (often one or two).

I love to cook! :D But I think it will be better if there is someone to enjoy the meal with though. :(

I love cooking. It relaxes me in a way.

Just stay out of my way if I'm cutting meat... Yeah...

I really like listening to music and just staying around the kitchen preparing food for an hour or more. And apparently I'm pretty good at it too. !oops!

If I could cook every day I would. Or at least cook for someone other than just myself. :(

Now I want to cook something... Anyone want some nice homemade soup? That would taste wonderful right now... Then we can curl up under a blanket... Because I'm cold. :(

Shame on me... Promising cuddles in exchange for food... Then again...

I used to love to cook.

Then I did it professionally for several years and lost most of my passion for it.

Hookers probably feel the same way about sex....

I hate cooking.

Probably cos I don't really know how to. I can cook basic stuff and thats about it.

I really enjoy cooking exspecially when there is someone to cook for. I as well hate the clean up part I wish I had a dishwasher.

cooking is cool and everything, but I dont know how to cook a whole lot of stuff

so yes and no on liking to cook lol

Oh yes I can cook. Cheese on toast, beans on toast, omelette if it's a special occasion like a birthday or Christmas...

Really though, cooking is something that I'd really love to get into, besides anything else it's a really attractive skill to know. The only problem is that I hate the idea of having to spend an hour making a meal that takes 20 minutes to eat as opposed to just bunging something in the microwave. :(

Also I can't do peeling and chopping very well. It once famously took me over an hour to prepare three potatoes. :D

Oh, I know! Chopping is fine but peeling is always a pain. I seriously can't peel a potato. My friend was watching me try one time and said that I was being to delicate and precise. :(

The precise thing I can understand... The delicate comment was just depressing... And then I peeled the shit out of that potato. :gogirl:

Haven't tried again since then though...

I love to cook. I don't know what it's like to live without my double ovens. My house is always filled with friends who come over for dinner on a regular basis and I always cook for an army. I feel the best times are always over a great meal with close friends. I fire up the grill every saturday afternoon for bbq & beer. But out of all the wonderful things I can cook, it's just a simple ole sloppy bag that people go ape shit over. Although I can see why, sloppy bags are quick & easy to make and a fun meal/snack to have while watching a movie.

I have a sign that says:
I'm not a slow cook - i'm not a fast cook I'm just a half-fast cook -- (say it real fast -and you'll get it !!

I've been cooking since I was 12 - okay a lot of the that early stuff was opening a couple cans and heating stuff up = and there was always a can of soup involved or some tomato sauce. But i learned to cook quite well -- love doing it - and would never use something like a Cuiesenart chopper or stuf like that -
love doing it all by hand - the old fashioned way - that's the fun of it all --
baking too - got pretty good at muffins and breads and the occasional cake or pie. Cookies - always !!

I make some mean summer salads - and the most awesome beef stew EVER !! sausage and peppers --
many many good soups- yeah - i can cook -- that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I kind of hate cooking for just myself, it's such a chore. It doesn't help that I usually wait until I'm famished before I begin fixing myself something.

Otherwise, yeah, I like it. One of the few 'artisan' pass-times that I seem to find enjoyment in.

That sounds so good. Did you have fresh pasta?

Whats fresh pasta, I just used the spaghetti that came in the spaghetti box I bought at the grocery store 4 days ago.

And you should come over and cook your yummy steak and blue cheese! With baked potato!

Well yes I do like to cook but only in a superbly equipped open kitchen. Must have 2 double sinks, jennair or stainless appliances, enviro waste disposaerators, platinum level cookware and implements, tiered wine chiller, lazy susan style overhead conveyer for pot and pans, granite countertops, produce pantry, and about 500 other specs....

IN OTHER WORDS - YOU DON'T COOK !

^^ Yeah, I've always wondered why it takes a $6000 Viking restaurant-grade 6 burner stainless steel range to heat up a frozen pizza. :D

I like to cook, but I don't often have time to do anything elaborate. My most recent love is grilled squash and peppers. Slice them up, drizzle them in olive oil infused with fresh pressed garlic, grill for a bit, and there ya go. :gogirl:

One of my specialties is cherry pie. I have an unusual way of doing cherry pie that involves flour as a thickener, butter, and almond extract. I sold cherry pies one summer when I was 15 ... I was baking two or three a day. It's great to get paid for doing something you enjoy. :)

YES! I love to cook.

I like to cook for myself, and will quite often put a lot of time and effort in making myself a decent dinner. But cooking for others as well makes the experience so much better.

Last week was an excellent one, cooking wise. I cooked two dinners for various people in the student organization I'm in. One for the committee I'm the leader of, which consists of 14 people. Then later that week I cooked for the board and council, also about 14 people. I also made dinner for the people I live with this Sunday. Everyone was very happy with the food they got, and made sure to compliment me a lot.

I'm not very experienced, but I'm learning new things to make all the time. Food blogs are excellent for getting new recipes and inspiration (check out smittenkitchen.com). By now, I have developed a decent taste and feel for how I want my meals to end up like, but I still have lots to learn. And I'm only looking forward to it.
