Back in 2nd year me and my previous housemate always cook on the weekends. It's fun and enjoyable and sometimes we have friends over to cook too. I can't cook well so I usually help out with the cleaning. Although I think it's nice to cook since these days, a lot of outside food are not properly prepared.

Either I cook or starve. I don't eat packaged meals or processed foods. And I care too much about my health to dine out every day.

I've never liked this approach. Then people start replying more to your response instead of simply the question itself.

I hate cooking. It takes so much time. Time I don't have.

Maybe if it were controversial but something reletively black and white like do you or do you not like cooking?

If it is controversial then lay out a few of the options and say ... I really dont know what I think yet....

then people will feel compelled to respond with what they think.....

Interesting Feedback.

Thanks

Not really feedback... it is the code of conduct and indicated in what you are supposed to post. Random info generators are not desired because anyone can paste a word and post tripe. Unfortunately they dont enforce it as much anymore do to lack of either manpower or interest in mod tower. Not sure which.

I love to cook - when I have the time - we run too much lately to really enjoy it.

Also, we're trying to make sure the next generation are self-sufficient.

I can also bake - I would do quick breads more, my wife and girls tend to do the cakes and pies, cookies - but I help out and can make them if needed (have to be careful so I don't upset the rest of the family.)

Eating out at table-service restaurants can get expensive. I don't do fast food. So the only other alternative is cooking.

My favorite dish by far to cook is teriyaki-marinated salmon. It's best when cooked on the grill, but it also works in the pan. Goes great with yellow rice and green beans, but there are probably some other combinations it would go well with.

I definitely need to expand my repertoire of recipes and take more time out of the week to cook a home-cooked meal.

I use to love to cook, but I pretty much gave it up after I got hurt. Now it hurts too much to cook.

The poll is missing "I cook all the time but don't enjoy it". We have to eat, and cooking is the most economical and healthy option (other than eating raw food). Almost every cooking session results in at least two evening meals and some leftovers to pack in lunches. I usually make two or three main dishes to alternate during the week.

Try some steelhead trout instead of salmon - both are related, the steelhead is a little lighter flavored - baby steps.

I eat out on the run way too much.

Much prefer home cooked meals.

Fast Sauce takes a little while, but tastes great -

Cut up tomatoes, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Onions -
put some olive oil in a good sized pan, add some garlic, toss in all of the above, add some salt, pepper, basil.
Simmer it until it cooks down to a nice, thickish sauce.

Cook some pasta, serve it up with sauce, add a generous amount of grated Parmesan, Romano, whatever other cheeses.
You can add meat if you like, but it's great without it.

I find cooking to be one of those monotonous activities that free my mind to deal with more important things - like my writing. I do like cooking though it's a grab bag of surprises, you never know exactly how anything is going to turn out. I've not poisoned anyone yet so that's a good thing.
