Do you like to drive fast? Or are you more of a cozy driver?

I kinda like to go fast :) and with fast I mean anywhere between 160kmh (~100mph) and 200kmh (~124mph).

It makes long, boring trips a lot more fun. Driving fast doesn't need to mean "driving reckless". I only drive fast when traffic and route allow it and I am not pushy behind slower cars. There are a few routes where you can go even faster, but imho anything above 220kmh (~137mph) is a bit crazy on non-straight routes :-

I'm not a nervous driver and don't get stressed if I have to brake down because of a slow driver or can't pass... but when the road opens up I'm off :) ... although my Mini started to feel like a go-cart above 200...

I have had my boy racer years, I have also raced in amateur series and events. If I want to drive fast, I will take it to the circuit.

On the road, I am more of a grandpa driver, I travel at the speed limit and focus more on fuel efficiency rather than speed. Considering I travel probably 45 000km per year, training myself in hyper-miling (spelling? driving to get the BEST fuel economy you can) really pays off.

My vehicle has a highway rating of 6.1L/100km. Combined (80% highway, 20% urban) I can obtain 5.8L/100km regularly. On highway stints I can get as low as 5.2L/100km. Plus, with correct driving technique for fuel economy, your car also wears less. My tyres honestly are close to 80% and I have already traveled 40 000km on them. My brakes are near 95% for the same KM traveled.

^ well i obey the speed limit, too :) what kinda helps is of course that i don't have to pay for the gas. but still .. my average consumption at the moment is 6.7l/100km :)

@3nipples .. i know that feeling from my old fiesta ;)

Oh yeah. But I know when and where I can speed. I got pulled over after doing ~140mph (225km/h). That wasn't pretty. But it was late at night on open road with no one there... except the police :doh!

I would never speed around town - it didn't really get me do my destination any quicker.

Sadly, I now have a car that goes 0-60 (0-100km/h) at the speed of smell and because of the sensitive nature of the gearbox, I don't exceed 4000 RPM which caps me at about 75mph (120km/h). But, the top goes down and it gets me where I need to go.

going fast in a city almost never helps you. you can make idiotic maneuvers and speed up fast to pass a few cars ... which will be right next to you at the next traffic light. it's not only idiotic but also dangerous. i love to drive at night because of free highways. and if you are ever bored, drive the A8 at night and if you are driving on the left lane, keep a close eye on your rear mirror. if you see a light approaching from behind, clear the left lane quick. and you migh witness a 300km/h porsche passing by. they test drive every new porsche before delivery there at night time :o

No. I don't feel like controling the car when driving really fast. Plus I'm not used to drive currently.

About 150 km/h (93 mph) is the fastest I've got.

I drove 105 mph ONCE, nefver otherwise topped 100.

I didn't vote, because there was no alternative between "Hell yeah" and NO. I will often go 5 to 7 over the speed limit, on open highways, but I don't overdo it.

And I don't think I would really want to drive on "the Autobahn" either. The idea of being a traffic hazard because I'm going only 150 km/h doesn't appeal to me. (There isn't only *one* Autobahn in Germany - basically it's the same as our "freeways" and there's a few of them.)

^ you won't be a hazard if you just stick to the right lande. check your mirrors when you want to use the middle lane to pass a truck.

@gelo: that immensely depends on the car that you're driving. bmw/mercedes/audi or even some volkswagen are built to be handled at this speed. it makes a huge difference.

The same as frankfrank, I think I've only reached 100mph once, or at the most twice. I don't get any thrill out of driving when I'm at that speed. All I get is unnerved and anxious.

On my three or four epic car journeys along nearly the entire length of Britain these last few years, I've usually kept to about 70-80mph on the motorways and only briefly touch 90mph on the straight stretches with little traffic.

I've only driven ford, peugeot, and citroen all of them were old cars when I used them.

I occasionally like to open up a car, but generally I prefer putting along. I've got a nice car, and like liam's, the top goes down. That makes getting from Point A to Point B a very enjoyable experience, so I don't like to rush it. :)

I would but I live in a densely populated part of Florida. Rural areas here are notorious for police 'fund raisers' via speeders.

I would be ecstatic just to be able to reach speed limit. Our freeways are so congested to the point where they are slower than our smaller roads.

I drive to get where I'm going... so it's a little from column A and a little from column get off my ass or I will make you suffer.

id love to be able to drive fast like they do on European roadways. I loved driving the police cars, they go fast and handle great. I have a BMW now which goes like a rocket but i'm always worried about getting pulled over. I still average around 80 on the highways and really try to stay in the speed limit on the secondary roads and thru neighborhoods.....

I'm uncomfortable driving very fast. Not only do I not feel safe, I can't afford a ticket.

However, my boyfriend has a new Camaro and last night he showed me how impressively it can go from 0-60 while on a 35 mph road. It was a rush.

Hopefully you returned the favor and gave him a rush with road head, after pulling over to stop first, of course.

I usually drive about 55 mph all the time..Very seldom over that..I leave early enough to get where I am going so why rush? I do stay in the right lane and still get the finger for going slow..Just not in that big a hurry anymore..The one and only ticket I got for speeding was 1983 on Interstate 10..doing 100 mph in 60 zone...cop let me go with a warning after I explained to him I had been living in germany for 4 years and just got back...he dropped it to 75mph on the ticket..
