I can't imagine how anyone would "like" going to see a doctor. I at times like the relief from what ever physical ailment I might have had that the doctor afforded me.
The insurance end is the part I hate.

then I have to wait 12 centuries in the tiny, overly air conditioned examining room in my underwear.

GP: I used to like it more when I got to strip down and sit around naked but now I have to put on a stupid paper hospital gown so it's much less enjoyable.

Is this normal, having to get your kit off when you go the doctor? Or only if you're going for a general check-up and not for a specific complaint?

I've only had to get my kit off once, and that's because my balls swelled up and the guy needed to have a look. Otherwise, fully dressed. I'd find it awkward if I was going because I had, say, an inner ear issue and I was asked to strip off.

^Those two posts really confused me as well . Reminds you off all the old jokes , but hey , it is America . Their medical-practices , do sometimes make me *ponder* .

I love my Doc. He helps to keep me alive.

I'm invited to strip down for a general check-up. Often not necessary. Apart from a general check-up, a nurse might ask me to undress whatever part I'm complaining about.

I do quite like the doctor I have now. He is very direct and upfront with me and I appreciate that very much....it is a good fit.

I can't say I "like" going...or that I hate it either. I go because I have to and that is how I see it.

First of all, one of the posters quoted was Canadian and secondly, in the US and just about anywhere else, I would imagine, the only time a patient would strip down for an office visit is if the doctor needed to examine a part of the body that was covered by clothing or if a complete physical exam was being done.

As to the OP's question, it does not bother me to see a doctor.

I stand corrected , yep , that is how we do it . Not having patients sitting around in their underwear . Just waiting to be seen....:-)

I doubt anyone in their right mind LIKES to go to the doctor. That in itself means you either feel like shit or think something is physically wrong with you. Who would like that?

The company that I work for, which I refer to as "The Kingdom", out of financial, and personal, concerns, became self insured, and started up their own clinics/labs/dentists/eye care/pharmacy/dieticians/gyms, etc., etc., to hire their own health professionals, and control costs. Since then, they've also offered their services to other companies, and "our" medical division is now providing health care from coast to coast.

The main thing is being Very Proactive about Prevention, and encouraging employees to be Engaged about Health! ..|

SO ... My GP works for the same company that I do, and there is a clinic on-site. \:/

I just recently did "Labs" (blood, urine, etc.), and had a mandatory "chat" with my Doc.

The lab results were good (the meds are working), and I sat through another "tirade" about my smoking, not exercising enough, blah, blah, blah!

And, not Once did anyone want me to strip Naked! #-o ](*,) :(

Damn! :-< (group)

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)

I don't like going. But I'm one of those people that want to go if I feel something is wrong or if the doctor would like to recheck something. I rather catch something early (if it's there) and nip it in the bud before it advances. Complete opposite of those who like to continually reschedule or delay appointments, or are too afraid to face reality.

I think the last time I saw a general practitioner was back in 2008 when I was diagnosed with shingles. (Don't worry, it was a very mild case.) Otherwise I've been in great health. I self-medicate with alcohol to keep the stress down. Now I need to book a couple of massages in addition to that...

I found a really great dentist since I moved back to Biloxi and his whole office is super friendly. I LOVE going there - everyone knows me by name and is always so friendly when I show up. I'm going to miss them once I move to Washington - unless I can find the money to fly back down for my twice-a-year teeth cleaning!

When I owned my own business (which I still own), I was not insured at all. I took on a full-time job with medical benefits, which has been awesome. I believe it includes a checkup or two a year, which I should probably take advantage of.
