... a library? That is, do you have a collection of books, comic books, magazines that you preserve as something having a particular worth or simply because you've always had it? If so, how big is that collection?

(Just in case anyone is interested, I'm of the kind who gives away books every now and then because he has acquired better editions, or simply because he doesn't consider those books worth being kept anymore. I have a collection, not a recollection or deposit.)

I forgot to add: is it on paper or electronic or a mix?

@Star: I'm sure it was, unlike the Sack of Baghdad and Constantinople in the XIIIth century, a loss more on your side that for the rest of Humanity, am I wrong?

I bought a used book in san francisco by Andy Warhol a few years ago. I got it back to my hotel and was looking at it and saw that it was signed by Andy Warhol. I had it checked out and its really his autograph. Its one of my prized books that I cherish.

Not really, I have floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall, bookcases in my bedroom housing most of my collection of 'occult/spirituality/mysticism' related books, and three other bookcase in my living room filled with 'everything else'...plus a few pile of books here and there ...but it's not what I'd call a 'library'.

I've actually managed to cull at least half the books that I used to own because they were taking up too much room. I've never bother to keep fiction (with the exception of a few ancient 'classics); and I periodically give a load of books away to charity. Or, if I consider them an insult to the intelligence, or something which I would prefer no one else wasted their time reading, I hurl them down the rubbish chute of my tower block.

I also have some 5,000+ books in PDF format; again mostly on 'occult/spirituality/mysticism' etc.
So you have many books but not a library: you mean you don't have a "library room" or closet...

Oh, I'vee done that too: I remember that the one that upset me so much as to do that was a Spanish translation of Gerald Durrell's The Picnic they made us buy and read in highschool.

I have a collection of comics that I reread frequently; a considerable number of books that I think that I will allways have. They are distributed btwean my home and my parents one.
I have a really funny History of Spain edited in 1939.

y nunca me desharé de mi colección de el Jueves, que continua creciendo.

I don't but my parents do in a few of their houses. Well, they aren't as big as public libraries but they have a lot of books so I think they are libraries  what is the definition of a library?

I have a small collection (about 500). Someday, when finances allow, it will be much larger.

A conservative estimate would put the number of books I have at over 1000. I am a voracious reader. I buy books all the time, sometimes half a dozen at once. I've read just about every book I have and I'm still working my way through the ones I haven't read.
