I'm not sure, but I can't remember any of the toaster ovens I've used having much if any insulation. Although most were cheap new (and even cheaper bought used). I did have a DeLongi, but I can't remember it very well. Except that I found it disappointing for something that would have been $$$$ new. At least, for my needs.

We had a countertop convection oven when I was growing up. I don't think that had insulation, but as I recall, I think it did have a fan that ran air through the sides and top to cool it down so one wouldn't burn oneself on the side. Or set fire to the kitchen.
 
I only use toaster ovens these days. I don't even have a real oven available--but even when I did, I often opted for the toaster oven. I preheat it for everything I do.

We had a countertop convection oven when I was growing up. I'm not srue about this, but I don't remember it ever being preheated before use. I think it heated fast and gently enough that preheating wasn't seen as necessary by mother, and maybe not the owner's manual for that oven.
 
We had to give in and get a new range and the oven was the thing I was most concerned about. I don't like gas oven heat at all now, so we wanted a convection oven that was responsive to being either regular or convection and that produced even heating.

At this point, I am quite happy with the results.

Is the range top an induction stove?
 
No.

In the end, we opted for conduction ceramic top based on recommendations from friends who had purchased induction and didn't find it any better. Almost went for gas, but it would be propane and we had no good place for the tank.
