Do you remember when? (JUB of yore)

So what are the things you guys remember about JUB that are gone or have changed?

I remember when I was like 14 or 15 or 16, whatever, and JUB was nothing more than a handful of guys on a REALLY basic foum, and it was called "link me all over"... I used to stay home from school, faking sick, so I could look at porn all day.​

Speaking of the pic galleries......I remember when we were able to organize and rearrange pics in our gallery to our liking. (click and drag, from what I remember...) Now pics only show up in the order they are posted. Yes, we can have individual gallery subjects, but we lost the control to show them in the order we wish. Why is that? Can that feature/benefit be returned?

Here's an explanation, posted by herry a few years ago.

Instead of sending people a comment you gave them good or bad reputation*. So everyone started with one or two green squares. The more good reputation you were given the higher your rep count.

When your rep count reached a certain figure you got another green square. After a while some people had up to 12 squares hence the phrase green caterpillar.

Also the more squares you had the more reputation points you could give. So someone with only 2 squares may only give you 10 points whilst someone with 12 may give 35 or more. This meant if you only got good rep from people with low rep you might end up with a shorter caterpillar than someone who has been given less rep but by people who could dispense more points.

The same thing happened with bad rep but you got negative points and if you went below 0 you could build a red caterpillar.

I think it's sad how there was once a thriving contingent of women posting on here, but now I never see any.

Don't know for sure how many female JUBbers are active, but I do see several around fairly regularly and I'm here every day, I'm just not very vocal. But anyone who visits Hot Men and Gay Porn will see me all over that place!

There are a couple of women that posted in the bi/staight area recently... but I too am surprised there aren't more.

It's always nice to see that some (most?) guys don't mind women being here and would actually like to see more here, as opposed to those who seem to wish that there weren't any here at all

For the reputation system (aka the "caterpillars")? Yep, that was JUB -- the rep system was removed in about 2005 or 2006.

In my mind I think why should we make this a male-only forum? As long as we respect each other and they don't just flame the hell out of the forum, I could care less if they're a woman, man, straight, bi, gay, trans, E.T., cyborg. I'm sure there are plenty of forums that are geared towards straight people who wouldn't drive me out just for being 90-something % gay.
