  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you see yourself as damaged?

Damaged implies that you were once not damaged and that something happened which damaged you.

Defective is a better word for it.

Do you feel we are born damaged then? I feel life is what happened.

Either works though.

Yes, but I dream about it more than I think about it. At one point and time I thought about my past on a daily basis, I was reliving all of the negative events constantly. Some therapy and medication have helped a lot.

I think I'm damaged but less so than others more so than others i dunno i'm too full to get philosophical!

I might have gotten a few chips over the years but I wouldn’t say I’m damaged.

Perhaps a more interesting twist to the thread would be to ask what members think of the significance of being damaged, or even whether it is the universal condition of man.

I was going to say no. But then I remember 2002. And in some ways I still haven't recovered.

But I'm alive and happy, so it's not a question I ask often.

Absolutely the universal condition.

And I understood this at a very young age.

I saw everyone as dealing with damage, either from war, or depression or emotional scarring....I was probably as young as 5 when I realized that pain hadn't singled me out.

Seems whether you are coddled by your perfect parents or raised by Mommy and daddy dearest you will come out damaged in some way.

seems I don’t need to define “damaged” if the person thinks they are for whatever reason then I guess they are

There is a part of me that's damaged :(

My ass has a crack in it.

That's not funny Vannie

I like that.

It is like the Japanese fixing things with gold to make it new again.
Kintsugi:

Gilberto Arrivabene and Gianni Seguso have created a line of glassware manufactured in Murano which now includes pieces inspired by kintsugi. As broken glass cannot be repaired with gold, his pieces are first etched in kintsugi-like patterns and then filled with gold. They are quite beautiful.
