That was Mr. Humphries (John Inman). He played Mrs. Slocombe's Greek husband-to-be. Mrs. Slocombe became engaged to a Greek musician. Her rich American uncle said he would pay for the reception and buy the couple a house, but, on the day of the wedding, Mrs. Slocombe discovered that Mr. Mataxis was on a plane heading for Greece. Apparently his wife objected to the wedding.
