There is a scene in To Sir With Love in which Mark Thackeray (Sidney Poitier) sits in the teacher's lounge and peels an orange after which he peels off all the 'skin' that remains. Fussy eater, I suppose.

I don't. I peel the orange and eat what's left.

orange pulp is good.

I prefer orange juice with added pulp.

The white stuff is called pith and I think it's considered healthy.

The pulp are those small "blisters" that contain the juice.

I knew that, but the word abandoned my brain and you can't look up a word when you don't know what the word is.

I'd heard it's healthy as well, as are banana 'strings' .

It also escaped my brain, I just googled "White stuff inside oranges" ;)

I don't mind a bit of pith but if I can't even see the orange underneath, I'll peel some of it off.

I don't eat oranges. Too much work and they make me feel sick. A lot of fruits are like that. I like simple fruits that don't make any mess.

most orange juice are pulp free which is stupid.

What has always confused me is orange juice that is made from concentrate but still contains the pulp.

Do they like have bags of dried pulp lying around in the factory or what?:?

I prefer it freshly squeezed (w/pulp), a bit pricier but much more refreshing and sweet.

I have a feeling you like bananas...

I'm not a fan of the pith, so I try to peel off as much as possible. I also don't like the banana "strings."

I don't mind the pith at all. I never eat the banana strings though. erg

I take the peel off the orange itself, but the pith usually comes off anyway when you peel each of the sections inside.

Apparently each wedge is called a "carpel."

i like oranges, they have appeal...
