  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you speak Canada?

The sad thing is that many of my fellow Quebecers are absolutely incompetent in ANY language... They mumble-jumble a mixture of both English and French and are surprise when they are not understood...
You mean they speak Frenglish in Quebec too?!? I thought that was just an odd, Northern Ontario thing....

To speak Canada is...

Knowing what a double-double is.
Pronouncing it 'Newfundland'.
Adding phrases like "I need these baskets back" and "Now the people will know we were here" into everyday conversation.
Knowing how 'Nunavut' is pronounced.

Also... 'March Break', 'Two-Four / Two-Four Weekend', 'That's a beauty / Beauty!' are things you say. That's 'How To Speak Canada 101'.

True Canadians also should know what the correct response to 'Where the great plains begin' is.

Oooooo! That's good! ;)

And don't forget knowing the meaning of this sentence: "It's my birthday. Buy me a 50."
