Do you stick out your tongue when you concentrate?

I don't mean when you're concentrating on pleasing your man. I'm talking about doing mundane chores which require a modicum of concentration. Most of the people I've seen doing this stick their tongues out of one side of the mouth, but many just stick it out, and it seems that the more concentration is required, the further out comes the tongue.

I've never done it, but it's an interesting phenomenon.

Yeah I stick my tounge out and usually bite on it.

People are always telling me I look retarded when I do it.

Not all the time...I tend to squint my eyes and depress my eyebrows.

When I'm swimmingI. I tend to do that.

Its weird and I do not know why but I've catched myself a few times when I'm concentrating to swim faster (because I can taste the awful water).

I do the whole shabang! Tongue out, squinty eyes, furrowed brow and, when I'm drawing something intricate or taking a pic, I also hold my breath - which stops your hands from shaking! Try it!!!

Okay, which one are you dropping?

1. Liverpudlian slang term referring to trousers

2. British slang term for underpants.
I had to peel my keks off I'd had them on for so long.

In fact, a fair few of us in my family does as well when concentrating so it's become somewhat of a running gag about those who do.

I do it out of pure instinct and will sometimes catch myself doing it. I know I probably look ridiculous too, especially when writing exams or midterms while the teacher is walking up and down the aisles.

When I'm putting my contact lenses in, I hold my mouth wide open for some reason. Can't not do it, even though it serves no purpose at that moment.

Yes, it does. I don't wear contacts, but I just tried opening my eyes as if I were putting contacts in them. It was easier to open my eyes wider with my mouth open than it was with my mouth closed.

LOL, I thought I was the only one that did that. I do it whenever I'm writing a check at the store. When I catch myself, I feel like an idiot.

Yep. Sometimes if im concentrating hard enough, i have no idea im doing it until someone tells me im doing it.

It's in my family too. Whenever they catch me doing it they start to laugh.

I don't understand what the big deal is though.
