where were you born? Where do you live now?
And why did you move and why did you stay?
Are you planning to move to a different area if so why?

Well, I was born in Tucson, AZ, but I grew up in Eau Claire. And I'm still here. I've considered moving to another city, but I can't leave this place behind...

I was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to western Washington when I was 8. I lived in Portland for a year when I was 18 and have been back in Washington ever since. I'm moving back to Portland this summer.

I wouldn't mind staying where I am (I consider this my hometown), but I want to go back to school and I can't do that here.

I grew up and moved away from home. I fell in love and we built our own home together. My home is where my man is.

I didn't know Peto lived on the east coast???

I was born in Goderich and I still live in Goderich even after finishing college.

Why am I still here? Because my family is here, the town is nice and quiet. Everybody knows everybody here. We have three beaches. The sun sets twice and in the summer when we get flooded with tourists, I like to meet new people. I feel safe here. The air is clean and I can see the stars at night. I love the slower pace as compared to the big city. I have no plans on moving anytime soon or ever for that matter.

Just because you have Professor Peto's giant salami to play hide and seek with doesn't mean the rest of us aren't happy with our toy bananas, my yiddish mama.

Now, get your little rubber ducky and get in the bathtub. Then you may climb into bed with your lonely little teddy bear. He misses you.

leave my teddy bear out of this. now go and play with your lavender lube - your man has been waiting for you for over an hour and is getting bored.(*8*)

I was born in Vancouver, and have since ended up in Port Coquitlam, which really isn't all that far away.

I like Vancouver. I'll likely be here for some time.

i LOVE my hometown - and I have traveled.

the whole "rednecks and crackers vs. out-of-town university students" culture clash is hysterical, throw in a thriving counter-cultural/alternative/underground/art community of locals only marginally affiliated with the universities, the state legislative seat, the city's wealthy darling gay couple - benchmark construction and cornerstone realty, several quite eccentric "old money" dynasties, perfect weather most years for common large psilocybes in the summer and drunken horny frat boys and naive post-high-school wrestling team champions surveying the new construction at I-10 and 319 and.....ohhhhhh, the list goes on. It's quite the ragout.

so we can't grow raspberries and gooseberries and cranberries or mangoes and avocados and our apples and cherries are stunted and our pears are hard and our grapes are all slipskin varieties...we CAN grow bananas and citrus (kumquats!! I prefer the Nagami over the Meiwa....) and loquats and pineapple guavas and blueberries and sparkleberries and scads of blackberries and persimmons and plums and (as a former resident of the Caucasus Mountains was elated to discover today) pomegranates and.....well... THAT list goes on....

I ran into Jimmy Shiver again today; I went to grade school through high school with him, and, like me, he just gets dead sexier the older he gets. I ran into Jo Head the other day (only her name is Jo Curry now) and I haven't seen her in, like, 20 years. It was a neat feeling. When I got arrested a decade or so ago, Dennis Richter was the PIG on the other side of the holding cell from me - the right side, and even THAT was amusing.

Every member of my immediate family lives in town; I enjoy being a part of their lives. I like not facing an airline bill if someone I love gets hospitalised or married (or both). Yes, I've made some enemies here as well - but I refuse to run from them. And nothing else seems attractive enough to run to, and leave all this behind.

I have honest work and somewhere to garden; I'm happy here.

I was born in England but grew up in Glendora, CA (San Gabriel Valley (SGV), Los Angeles County). I still have a PO Box in Glendora and go there frequently because of it. I moved to the next city over. The city has always been a nice city, but I have noticed they have made the little downtown village even nicer the last couple of years. The only thing that I really don't like about it is that it is way too conserative. When we were looking for homes, the only available homes in Glendora that were new, which was one of my best freind's requirements, were custom made homes. And buying a home over a million dollars for a first home was not realistic for us.

where were you born? In West Central Texas.

Where do you live now? Los Angeles California

And why did you move and why did you stay?

I moved, because I'm scared to stick around my hometown. I love my hometown, but I feel I'll be living a mediocre life. That make sense? probably not. I'm terrified of failiure, but that does not mean peope in my hometown aren't successful and I know I can fail anywhere I go.. basically I expect too much from myself and I hate familiarity, it scares me. I have this stupid idea stuck in my head. It basically comes down to that; the distance you are away from your hometown is directly proportional to how successful you are. It shows you take risks and aren't scared of change.

I know, it's a total load of crap, but I can't get it out of my head. I even went to stay with my parents one summer break from university and I lasted less than a month, because I had anxiety attacks. I was scared I would get comfortable. I felt I was settling for mediocrity.

Are you planning to move to a different area if so why?

I have moved several times, but I love Los Angeles. I don't plan on moving anytime soon, but I would like to sometime. I would only move if it was for a good opportunity, not just cause I wanted to. It would have to be a place like Chicago or New York, or even London.

I was born in Detroit mi. Lived there until I was 2 1/2 years old then moved to Taylor Mi. and have been there for 51 years, and 3 years ago I moved 4 blocks over to my partners house & living happily ever after!!

I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I joined the Navy when I was 17 and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for two years. After that, I was stationed in San Diego, California for the next six years, including two years at the Navy SEAL base in Coronado (some of the hottest men evah). After I got out, I came back to Philly in the early 90's to finish school and I've been here ever since.

Had I my druthers, I'd love to go back to San Diego - it's a gorgeous place and Mexico is just a few minutes away. Or Washington or Atlanta, if my mom wasn't ill.

Not quite. I was born in California, and moved to Colorado when I was 11. I went to college in the LA area, and had a job in New Mexico for two years, but other than that, I've stayed here. I don't know - I like the vibe of this place. If only the snow wasn't so common...
