Do you think all migrants, no migrants or some migrants should be vetted before entering the USA?

Re: Democrats blame Russia whenever something goes bad

Another example of a Democrat blaming the Russians:

8-)
This whole Russia-gate thing still makes me laugh. Half a million foreign Nationals (at least!) illegally cross the southern border into America every year, with liberals wanting to give them the right to vote, and y'all are still crying over Putin. Lol

Re: Democrats blame Russia whenever something goes bad

I have no idea what you're talking about.
And still haven't figured it out? Ok, I'll explain it to you. Liberal heads are exploding over Putin (a foreign national) supposedly influencing U.S. politics when half a million Mexicans and South Americans (also foreign Nationals) are flooding the southern U.S. border illegally (without following the laws of the land) and possibly getting the right to vote in U.S. elections. Claro?

Hmm... aiming that small ball for lots of big pins there.

P.S. Oye. "Claro" is used as "of course" or "I agree" would be used in English. "¿Comprendes?", would be Spanish for "Understand?" or "Got it?".

Re: Democrats blame Russia whenever something goes bad

Comprendes. 😉

Re: Democrats blame Russia whenever something goes bad

And you think half a million illegals a year is a small ball? Really? But Russia running some Facebook commercials is big?

The question is wrong-headed.

Any focus on the Hun at the gate is a red herring. American and European problems are different.

The US has plenty of work for low-wage service jobs, and those have for centuries been filled by slaves, poor whites, and immigrants. In the 20th century, a hypocritical dual standard began developing. We wanted cheap service labor, but didn't want all those people and their unions and socialism beginning to affect how the system worked. So, we made them illegal.

We still let them in, but we made sure they knew they were not welcome to begin running the place or considering themselves equals.

Now, in the whole post-911 mythology that we are safer because we have a cam up everyone's ass and spying on everyone's emails, we pretend that we're worried that some brown people from the other side of the planet might be mixing in with the brown people from the banana countries near that canal we dug.

And, Trump, being easily led in such fallacies, loves to hear
That unicorns may be betrayed with trees,
And bears with glasses, elephants with holes,
Lions with toils, and men with flatterers.
But when I tell him he hates flatterers,
He says he does, being then most flatterèd.

So, we arrive at the present. We want to deprive workers who are eager to work, who want jobs Americans won't do, and we want to keep the migrant labor in hovels and shanties so we can pretend we're safe. I think that's about it.

Which, in case you haven't noticed, has all-but vanished from the radar since the election. As suspected, it was nothing more than another con by the king of conmen, Donald J. Trump. All that's left if thousands of troops at the border living in tents, no mess, no fans, no air conditioning... nothing. Hundreds of millions of tax dollars down the toilet for a political stunt that has failed badly.

So you still think the crisis on the southern border is a sham?

"The Border Patrol released 250 migrants here on Tuesday and Wednesday and expects to free hundreds more in coming days because there is no room to hold them.

Normally, the agency would transfer the migrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be “processed” and in many cases placed in detention facilities. But officials said Wednesday that a recent influx of Central American families has led to a severe shortage of space."

66,000 illegal migrants caught in one month is hardly nothing. Imagine how many they aren't catching.

Any idea what immigrant advocates think about this situation?

So you still think the crisis on the southern border is a sham?

There never was a crisis. That was the sham. Otherwise, please explain how the 'invasion caravan' suddenly disappeared the day after the midterms.

It didn't, read the article. The liberal media just stopped reporting the truth of it.

It didn't, read the article. The liberal media just stopped reporting the truth of it.

And Trump became suddenly silent about the whole matter. It was nothing more than a ploy to get his supporters worked up into a frenzy so he could hold the House. It didn't work. Exit the 'invasion force' and try something different. Remember the shutdown? Remember how he caved? He needed something else and came up with the national emergence, which is just as fake as his 'invasion'. The man is one giant distraction to take attention away from his criminal activities. And if you need proof, just remember all the delegates he 'hosts' at his towers and at Mar-a-Lago... for a 'fee', of course. The crook and his family have been profiting from his presidency since Day One, and America has been paying for it. (Except for the 1%, of course. They've been profiting, too.)

Again, you didn't read the article, did you? The camps are jammed packed with no way of processing them all. They're being released basically on their own recognizance .

Any idea what immigrant advocates think about this situation?

Again, you didn't read the article, did you?

You never answered my question.

Border Patrol says detention centers are full — and starts releasing migrants (LA Times; March 20, 2019)

Immigrant advocates suggested the releases were intended to sow confusion at the border and further President Trump’s argument that there is a national emergency there.

You never answered my question.

Firstly, I didn't realize I was obligated to answer your questions, especially since you barely let me say my piece on here anyway.

Secondly, after the events of the past couple of days, I have a hard time believing anything the left says, advocates or otherwise. Of course you'd think their release is just a political ploy. How about you go look up what border guards are saying?

I have a hard time believing anything the left says, advocates or otherwise.

I was curious to know if you had read the article to which you linked and if so, whether you remembered what you read. Beyond that I wanted to be sure you fairly represented the matter that your post implied you were prepared to discuss.

From the same article:

"A Border Patrol official — who spoke on the condition that he not be identified — denied that the release was a political stunt and said crowded facilities threatened agents and migrants.

“It is a crisis,” he said. “It’s not a self-proclaimed crisis.”

The agency plans to make similar releases along other parts of the border, he said."

Yes I read the entire article, did you?

...Yes I read the entire article, did you?

This is the difference between reading and understanding.

What is happening on the southern border is a lot like what happens in a crowded room when someone yells, "shooter!". There's a chaotic rush where everyone runs for their lives.

There's not an emergency on the southern border. That's a political manipulation by Trump because he knows that's a wedge issue and he's hoping that he can hang on to that 37% of Americans who will believe anything they hear him say.

There is an emergency. The emergency is in Central America. That's the thing that these people are running from. During the Obama administration, there were about 1,000 people who were captured at the border per day. This year, that number has reached close to 4,000 per day. It's gotten worse in spite of the inhumane and unAmerican treatment of migrants on the southern border by the Trump Administration. If your choice is between dying in Central America versus taking your chances in America, you're going to choose America.

Look at this chart on the CPB website: Southwest Border Migration

Going back to the crowded room analogy... what DHS is doing would like arresting the people who are fleeing the shooter. What they they should be doing is trying to neutralize the shooter. Stopping the violence and the chaos in Central America will reduce the people who are fleeing the violence and chaos in Central America.

Twenty years ago, we had this same problem with Columbia. In response, the State Department, the US Congress and the Clinton Administration came up with Plan Columbia. We sent financial aid to help the Columbian government get control of the drug trafficking in the country. We also sent military assistance to help rebuild the Columbian military and police force. We also sent humanitarian aid to help the people of Columbia. The cost was about $10 billion over the next 10 years- about the same cost as a border wall.

When is the last time anyone heard stories about Columbian drug lords and Columbian narco-terrorism? The reason that we don't hear about these things is because of Plan Columbia.

We have an autocratic demagogue in the White House. He wants us to buy this crap about "an emergency at the border" because it's a great distraction from the way that he's damaging the United States. Coming up with a solution to the situation in Central America would require an understanding of the issue, a plan and money. This is not an Administration that understands issues, has a plan or is willing to invest money in anything that can't be used as a campaign commercial for the 2020 election.

So, if if you don't think at least 50,000 migrants a month, illegally crossing the southern border into America, for God knows how many years ISN'T an emergency, well, good luck to you. You no longer have a country.

Yeah, those damned immigrants. Nothing but problems.
