Hi guys, i've never posted this anywhere before but have searched for the same topic on google to try and get information but my situation seems to be a little different, so here goes.

I went to the doctor who then referred me to the urologist (i saw his assistant) who said i would probably need a circumsision. I have been to the hospital for my pre-op assessment and it's going ahead in next few months or so. However, I'm not entirely sure i need one although it was me who brought up the question in the first place.

Unlike other peoples situations who has posted the same question online, i have no tightness or pain when retracting my foreskin. I can do it when soft or hard and it does retract fully (ie fully stretched and not just stopping when the head is uncovered) but the problem is it won't STAY retracted, even when hard. If i let it go it will slowly creep back up until it's either covering the head or just gathering at the bottom of the head. So then i wondered whether i actually need a circumsision or if the problem is my foreskin is far too long and it can't stay retracted because of that reason (it is really long overhanging when soft) I'm sure that if an inch was chopped off the top maybe i wouldn't have this problem but having it removed just seems a bit scary to me. Again, i know i brought it up with the doctor but the thought of it is making me really nervous and i don't know if i can go through with it! Does anyone have any suggestions, alternatives or experienced the same thing? Thanks :)

So your foreskin doesn't give you any pain and you can retract it soft or hard but it just naturally covers your head? That's kind of how it's supposed to work.

If it doesn't bother you in any way then don't get anything done with it. Doctors in the U.S. seem to always push for circumcisions because that's the norm but in all honesty, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You could really regret getting your dick cut at this point.

It doesn't sound as if you need a circumcision at all. It's perfectly normal that the foreskin goes back a bit and doesn't stay completely withdrawn from alone. But it is important that the pulled back foreskin does not "bend" the penis head because of the frenulum (that skinpatch that connects the glans with the foreskin under your glans). But even in this case, only this needs to be cut, and your foreskin can stay.

Forgot to mention that the head is extremely overly sensitive to any type of touch and i thought this was down to being covered so much (and so this makes washing in shower very hard because of the water hitting it though in the bath its fine)
And guys i've been with have no trouble pulling their foreskin back when hard and then it stays that way until they go soft again. :confused: I thought that's how it was supposed to work and allows you to put a condom on

Does the extra long foreskin give you problems during sex?

My partner, who is a physician, says that more and more American doctors, even those who are very pro-circumcision, believe that adult circumcision should be a last resort. Communication between physician and patient is very important and you should tell him that you don't think you want a circumcision. If you want a circumcision for cosmetic reasons, then that is your choice as an adult.
Otherwise, if there is no medically justifiable reason for the surgery, don't do it.

Hi, thanks for the link. I don't have a problem with my foreskin and would prefer to keep it so it's not something i actually want to get rid of. I was just asking due to the extreme sensitivity of the head as well as not staying retracted when erect

It's not a cosmetic reason and I'm from the UK where circumcision is less popular so it's not a case of fitting in or anything. I haven't topped during sex yet because i feel like i won't be able to do it. The sensitivity is far too prominent and i don't see how i'm going to get a condom to fit on when the skin is just trying to push itself back up

Sensitive is good; you'll get a bit less sensitive as you get older, so it's not really something you need to do anything about.... and I don't see why you shouldn't be able to top... what you need is a partner that you're comfortable with and that can help you put the condom on.

The sensitivity is very normal and will diminish with time anyway. Circumcision is just a brutal way of reducing your sensitivity.

Would you cut out your eyes if bright light hurt?

It's unclear why a urologist would recommend a circumcision in your case. Adult circumcisions are not a minor surgery and I find it hard to believe that a specialist would recommend a surgery without a good reason.

You should get a second opinion. And this time ask specifically why you would be a candidate for circumcision.

I would love to have this "problem". You lose massive amounts of nerves and sensitivity from the best part of your penis. You can never get it back. If you decide to go through with it, enjoy it now, because it will never ever feel the same again. It's up to you of course but I'd bet you'll regret it.

Have you tried putting on a condom and jacking off just to see what it feels like?

imho i think circumsision is a completely uneccessary procedure in this day and age. we bathe reguarlly now so there are no hygine problems. all it does it numb the penis a heck of a lot and make masturbation harder cus most guys need lube otherwise they can hurt themselves cus of the friction. the forskin is there for a reason!

unless it is actually causing you pain, interfearing with your sex life (something i think you still have to verify) or is at risk of doing so in the future then there is no reason to get cirsumsised. also i think cocks look better with foreskin :D

ooh also one thing i've read recently is that for guys with foreskin, it should not be left pulled back after sex or masturbation as it can get infected or something. so remember, keep ya hood down ;)

I can't fit in on - it's like the foreskin is too long. The best way i can explain it is I'm trying to roll it down and it fits over the head really tightly, but when i try and roll it i can't roll it past about half way down my dick because the foreskin at the bottom is all bunched up and it can't fit over it:(

I have a similar problem with some of the ultra thin brands. Experiment with different brands and sizes. I expect you'll be able to find one that fits more comfortably.

my two cents: it does not sound like you need a circumcision. Really, as someone has already posted, the only definite medical indications for adult circumcision are : 1) phimosis (foreskin doesn't retract) or paraphimosis (remains retracted), or 2) balanitis (infection beneath a phimotic foreskin). Keep your foreskin and work on how it works best for you.

Well just to update in case anyone cares lol, I did get one done today, though it wasn't a full circumsision, just a partial one so the foreskin is still kept but when erect, it will retract fully so i'm able to slip a condom on with no troubles. Still a bit shaky from the drugs but altogether I feel well (probably be a different matter when the drugs wear off lol) The surgeon also said that because the head will be uncovered when erect that some of the oversensitivity i was feeling will disappear so it will actually able to be touched and come into contact with things now without feeling like I've just been electric shocked! Was worried before I had it done and couldn't stop shaking when I went under anasthetic but for now I'm really glad I had it done and hope that in a month or so I can actually try topping :gogirl:

Thanks for the update! I always hate it when you don't find out what happened, lol... good luck with your recovery and if you were to post another update in... say a month or so about the results I'm sure a lot of us would be interested :)
