Absolutely not.

These are religious wars.

With few exceptions, religious wars tend to be eternal, or close to it. (How did they stop the warfare between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, anyway? That's an exception.)

The exception is that nobody cared or cares a tenth of much of dead civilians in Ireland, Serbia, Kosovo, Turkey, or Mali as much as they do one Palestinian in Gaza or the West Bank.

There's no difference mind you, but Israel is always singled out.

Jewish self determination is fine, but not really in a land where people already lived! There was a chance for a peace a long time ago, but rather than a multi religious, multi ethnic state with power shared between the communities the Zionists (I really want to remove the idea again that all Israeli's are religious or Jewish - it does not help the debate) decided they wanted to control everything and pushed everyone out of their homes onto smaller and smaller parcels of land - which they now bomb. Anyway I don't love Gaza - I would probably be fairly indifferent towards it if it was a free state. Instead we have one country killing occupied people regularly on spurious facts (it now is becoming clearer that Hamas had nothing to do with the death of the three teenagers).

It is not logical to denounce Hamas missile strikes against Israel and not denounce Israel using a first-rate military in various ways over the past half-century against a nationless people who have no proper ability to defend themselves.

I denounce both but the fact that you apparently consider the former to be justification for the latter is a pretty thick bias. And it's precisely the bias one would have from just getting surface-level news provided in the U.S. about the situation, where we basically do not hear a thing about Israel-Palestine unless it is a situation in which Israel can be portrayed as the innocent bystander.

And equating criticism of Israeli policy with anti-semitism is the OLDEST Israeli propaganda piece in existence. So I think I have a good feel on where you stand.

This map keeps floating around everywhere and it is historically inaccurate and misleading. This is Arab propaganda produced for Western masses to excuse Palestinian terrorism. Most people look at the map and like you will say "can you blame Hamas" only out of sheer ignorance on the history and geography of that conflict. This lie is repeated so often that people don't even bother debating its inaccuracy as masses simply buy into it. For one, the green part of the map NEVER was an independent Arab Palestine state in 1945. Palestine was a geographic destination never a nation-state entity on the map. If there was this large green country called Palestine in 1945 can you answer when and why UN revoked its recognition as a state then?

Ironically that green part of the map was controlled by the Ottoman Empire for centuries up until 1918 and the only people there that were designated as "Palestinians" were the Jewish population. Arabs living there under Ottoman rule never called them selves Palestinian until their movement was born in 1967. The vast majority of the green of the map belonged to the Ottoman crown, not Arabs, not so called Palestinians. Other important omissions like the Arab rejection of two state recognition, their 3 wars of aggression that they lost and failure to accept multiple peace talk concessions when the Jewish state was willing to give up control of a good chunk on this map, while Arabs continued to reject it is never mentioned. Gaza and West Bank were controlled by TWO Arab states: Egypt and Jordan for 19 years and not a single Arab demanded a state recognition of Palestine in those areas after all those years. No one made a peep about occupations and oppressions by the Jordanians and Egyptians who treated that population worse than when Israel took control after ' 67 war.

Hamas just broke a cease fire that would have ended the "siege" you describe on their own people. If this was about defense from their point of view- why did they hurl more rockets when they weren't under "attack"?

Your question, again, projects out onto me your belief that anyone who is critical of Israel must support Hamas. I do not. I also don't support the Israeli government with its first-rate military shelling areas where civilians live, bulldozing housing tracts or shooting children from security fences. And I'm tired of the lame argument that "well, as gay people, if you think Israel is so bad go live under Hamas and see what they do to gay people." Many countries are still struggling with gay rights issues, my own (and your own) included. That would never enter into either of our minds as a consideration if China started bombing our civilian areas, now would it?

At least have the balls to just flat out say you're a pro-Zionist and you pretty much support anything Israel does whether or not it falls under the same sort of atrocities you eagerly criticize Hamas for, and stop pretending this is about how anyone who doesn't unilaterally support Israel must be a Hamas defender.
