No. It seems we're not happy as a people unless there's a would-be end-of-the-world looming. 1990, 1999, Y2K, the comet folk, the would-be doomsday guy last year, and now this. I'm sure we've got a 2015 date ready for when 2013 arrives with no issue.

No, there are too many people with personality disorders who do not yet own guns. As soon as SCOTUS finishes distributing our guns we may make it, but UNESCO will never get it right.

It is nonsense but the media will milk it like they did Y2K. If the Mayans were so smart why did they never invent the wheel and why did they not prevent h end of their civilization.
 
Yes, of course.. though, most probably, it will be like all the other times the world was ending.. However, this time I'm going to sit on my balcony, wrapped in a warm blanket, and watch the show.. after all, it's supposed to be a once of a lifetime experience.. :-)

These is a day when the earth will end, maybe it's millions of years away, but it will happen.

The next ice age may being in 50,000 years and last 10K to 20K years. That will cut down on a significant population.

If an asteroid a mile wide hits the earth humanity is basically doomed.

But I doubt a proficy on a calendar that eventually has to end and at the start of the winter season is it.
 
I'm sure someone's world will end on that date, but not for everyone. Hopefully not mine either. Got too much work to do and I just subscribed to a couple magazines.
 
If it weren't for the sudden onset of a solar eclipse Jaguar Paw would have been the next to have his head cut off as a offering to the Gods, they were chopping hundreds of heads off daily and rolling them down the top of the temple. It was a daily thing. It was brutally savage and Gorey.
It was too bad though for Jaguar Paw at the end not to see the real demise of the Mayan way of life when the Spanish conquistadors quickly and totally wiped them out bringing Christianity with them. For such a smart culture they couldn't save themselves or really get away from human sacrifice for the sun Gods.
It figures that modern man in the 21st century would still hold these sort of things as fact from a culture that couldn't see its own demise, but in fact did all it could prior to the Spaniards to wipe themselves out.
