I use cash for mostly everything like.... gas for car, grocery store, going to drive thru restaurant, going out to the mall (anything). The only time I use my credit card is for going to the veterinarian, pay for taxes, plowing company for winter just to name a few.

So what about you.... what do you use more of?

Electronic transactions all the way.

Debit card for most things, but cash occasionally. No pattern really.

Covid changed my habits completely. I used to be cash only but now it’s 99% debit card transactions. I don’t want dirty money 😂

Debit for store shopping. Credit card for online shopping and charities I sponsor. However, I always keep cash in my wallet just in case I need it.

Cash for daily purchases (groceries, meals). Honest to goodness checks for monthly bills. Credit cards for major purchases, gasoline, etc. Only use debit card to obtain cash

I take that back. The last vacation I took, I could not find any bank, travel agency or other financial institution that would sell me travelers checks; so, I loaded up my checking account and used my debit card for purchases.

Mostly like smokeshadow, cash for daily purchases like food, fast food, and gas. Credit cards for clothes and online purchases. Checks to pay monthly bills. When traveling Travelers checks don't seem to be used anymore so I pay cash for food and gas and credit card for hotel. I don't use a debit card for anything.

I use my credit card for anything over 50 dollars. I do carry cash for small purchases. Debit card, the problem, because it happened to me is fraudulent charges. I had one unknowingly, I used it only for get cash out at ATM's. I went to get cash and was denied. The bank caught it a transaction in Canada for plane tickets and took the money out of the account, but I had to wait 3 weeks for the money to be put back into my bank account. That is why I no longer have one. I had the money in savings to put into checking to cover bills, but I wouldn't have the problem with credit. I can dispute it. Never had a charge that I disputed on credit and with credit cards, my credit card has called me with they see a lot of activity which has always been me doing lots of shopping in a single day. With the credit card, I always call them and let them know, these are dates I will be traveling in these areas so I don't get shut off for potential fraud alerts.

I use my debit card for just about everything, I rarely, if ever even carry cash anymore

Debit for anything under my self-imposed credit card limit and credit for everything else.

I have had several hundred dollars in my wallet for emergencies (if systems are down or the restaurant or vendor does take cards)...but the same bills have been there for 3 months.

American Express for large purchases and online shopping. I like the fraud protection you get with a credit card. Everything else cash. It's harder to overspend when you have to peel off greenbacks, rather than swipe.

I get between 2% and 5% back on every purchase (sometimes only 1% if we use the wrong card), so I use credit cards. These reward cards have high interest, so I buy only what I can pay off immediately. I also like having a digital record to help with various reimbursements and such.

It varies.

I was very anti-credit card when I was younger. Partly from seeing people in my family who had problems. Eventually, I caved, because it's become almost a necessity. I've come to like them for convenience paying bills on-line. I am very careful to pay it off each month.

I hardly ever debit cards. At least once, I had a debit card months before I got around to activating it.

I still use cash. And part of me is thinking I want to use cash as much as possible. I don't want to see a cashless society. Partly due to practical technical reality--cash is a backup solution if computer networks act up. (I know someone who went shopping the last day of a sale. And the credit card wouldn't go through, due to a banking glitch.) Also theoreticlaly if a government turns totalitarian, they could use electronic banking as a way of controlling the citizens. Don't like how Joe Doe is protesting something? Turn off his bank account. And he can't buy groceries or pay his rent.

I should offer a service for people who don't want to have germ laden money around. Pack it up and send it to me. And get it and all those awful germs out of your house.
