You have 18,000 posts on a message board talking with strangers. Are we really in a position to espouse on other people's online socializing?

I use it but less and less now that college is over. It's basically the number 1 tool of frats & sororities.There's still a subsection of friends I only keep contact with through the site (just like there are e-mail friends, text friends, and phone friends on top of your immediate circle) but I'm not a fan of this latest timeout layout.

Don't see myself still on it past 25-27 probably.
 
I hate Facebook. I have a Facebook, though. I use to have, and like, MySpace. But I left when everyone else jumped ship because I had no contacts/responses there. I log on to FB about once a month or so. It's set up is way too public for me. (everything you do is broadcast to EVERYone on your list, and you have to go out of your way to make your profile more private). Plus, don't EVER download any apps, even for games. Have you READ the fine print? By doing so, you give FB permission/access/ownership of all of your info, and pictures that you may put up in your galleries.
 
No, I don't post constant Packers updates every Sunday...
 
I am on Facebook far more than any other media because I can keep in touch with family and friends....and even do it at work. My son is in Afghanistan and can use Facebook....
 
yes and the people who don't usually have shit excuses as to why and think they are "too good for it" when it would prob make their life a lot easier

Generally speaking, I use facebook like most people use tumblr. I post pictures, news articles, brief updates about me - but most of the content I post isn't personal unless I do a little editorializing of my own when I stick a news article up.

I have been greatly stressed these days, though, because my brother has turned into the only hipster at the tea party and constantly wants to use my statuses to preach his LOLbertarian, anti-progressive attitudes.
 
I had an account for a while, I finally deleted it since I was never on it, it just wasn't for me.

This makes me wonder what the average age is of those on Facebook. Do y'all think it is more of a younger generation thing?

No seriously I tried it for a while and didn't like it. Eventually deleted it. I don't need to see my co-worker's vacation photos.
 
with the whole posting information (statuses) that you don't want people to see:

1) There is something called security setting, secret groups, etc. The whole 'omg, i don't want people to see certain things' is seriously bullshit and no excuse.

2) If you don't want people to see it or know....don't post it.

that whole private aspect that people groan about makes me so mad lol there are so many ways around it.
 
This must be the 293rd Facbook thread since I joined last August. Can't we make up a PERMANENT FACEBOOK MEMORIALIZATION THREAD and enshrine it up with the Stickies and people can fill it out as they join.

No, I don't, but mainly because my family is full of idiots and pretty much they will love to criticize your Facebook stuff and show the world. Yeah, I don't have to add family, but I see them all the time, I wouldn't be able to get away with not adding them. I hate my family (mostly). XD Friends always tell me to get one....
 
i don't use facebook anymore, because it creeps me out. the facebook server has all my info saved everything i've deleted made private pm's all that good stuff. sure the public can't view it, but they can and that's just weird to me.
