What kind of organization(s) do you help out at? What do you do there?

I am still looking for a place to volunteer at since the place I was going to became assholes.

I was going to volunteer at The Salvation Army again (I use to as a kid) because I enjoyed it the last time and because I was told they are GLBT friendly. Another member on the PRIDE board I am on said they would let us rent/use land that they own. After about a month though he checked back and a higher up told him they wouldn’t let fags use it. I figure fuck them then.

Hospital.

I've got a soft spot for old people. I just do whatever I can there.

Thinking of doing volunteer work at an animal shelter.

Currently tutoring people for their GED at a halfway house. Still haven't tutored at a prison yet, although that apparently is where the greatest need is. I probably should look into that.

I volunteer for the local LGBT community center.

It's very rewarding and I recently joined the Board of Directors. I also serve as the volunteer coordinator, which is a lot of fun! If I had been asked even six months before I volunteered if I thought I would have so much fun, I would have said no. I didn't know any gay people in my community and this opened the door greatly.

I Volunteer for a whole host of places

church
theater
sporting events
performing arts

A while ago I posted a note on the bulletin board of our senior center offering rides to doctors appointments and the like and have been very busy and have met some of the nicest folks. And sometimes I get treated to homemade donuts and breads - yummy!! :D
