My straight friend says all the lesbians that he knows despise gay guys. And while that hasn't really been my experience, I would say that the lesbian population in my area seems pretty insular and there's not a lot of cross-bonding. Is that how it is all-over, or do you guys share bars and parties with the lesbians in your community?
 
Yes we all get along great down at the bar...

It's not my impression that they hate gay men.
 
Lesbians have been my strongest advocates. When I walk into a womens' bar, I get nothing but compliments and pats on the back. I love me some lesbians!

I know a few lesbians and they're cool with the gays.

Why would most of the lesbians your friend knows, despise gays??? That doesn't make any sense. As far as I know, we're all gay.

Around here it just seems to be that almost everyone will get along face to face, but as soon as one walks away the insults start to fly.

Its why I stopped trying to make friends with queer people around here. It drives me crazy when someone calls someone a friend, but then seconds later start telling everyone that that person is a thief, or a slut, or they got HIV, etc.
 
I hate when roving packs of lesbians get into fights with the stray gays in the neighborhood.
