My foreskin retracts fine when flaccid... He's a helpful doctor so why did he say it's the only option? Am I fucked?! I'm scared...

Can you get a partial circumcision? Seems a shame to cut the whole thing off.

There could be a reason why he said no to a partial, but some surgeons don't do partial circs for their own personal reasons - they think a full circ looks better - and try to railroad patients into their ideal.

If you think you'd prefer a partial circumcision then it might be worth getting a second opinion.

Definitely go for a second opinion!!

What is happening is the Phimotic Ring is loose enough when you're soft, but when you get a hard-on it won't open wide enough to allow the head of your cock to move through it. This is called "Phimosis."

A partial would remove just enough of the foreskin to eliminate the Phimotic Ring. As decka84 said, some urologic surgeons don't do them and you must find one who does.

I'm in the same boat... my foreskin retracts fine when I'm flaccid, but is extremely tight when I'm erect.

I went to a couple different urologists about it and yes, they all had the same conclusion. circumcision is the solution.

one doctor prescribed a steroid cream for me under the pretext of "it couldn't hurt," but because (in my case) there's scar tissue involved, it didn't have any significant results.

I haven't scheduled the operation yet, but it's on my to-do list... probably this spring. the big worry from the last urologist I went to was that it will get worse as I get older, eventually reaching a point where I medically have to get cut.

Loki - there ARE urologic surgeons who are familiar with doing a "partial" to remove the phimotic ring and the scar tissue. Be persistant in seeking one out.

Get a second opinion- preferably from a urologist. Don't go into it with the idea of one procedure versus another. When the urologist makes his recommendation, ask him why he recommends one procedure over the other.

Adult circumcisions do offer a little more flexibility it doing a partial circ versus a full circ. But it's going to depend on where the phimotic ring is located and how severe the scar tissue is.

That's just nonsense what your doctor says. I had phimosis too and I never got circumcised. If your foreskin is too narrow, it has to be made wider. Removing it is for lazy sods.

Get a second opinion from a doctor who doesn't have foreskin envy. Seriously.
