I feel like there's a common theme developing: the episode's initial concept is very mysterious and exciting, but the pay-off is a damp squib. I really hope next week's Weeping Angels episode knocks it out the park, especially if it's Rory and Amy's swansong.
 
I am usually hard as nails on NuWho. I hated the RTD/Tennant era for its mawkishness and continuous emo.

But season 7 is really working for me. I have enjoyed every single one.

The ending to The Power of 3 was rushed and easy - yeah but considering some of the RTD finales where the world worshipped the Doctor to turn back time to a big emotional sympthony - I can live with that.

I though Tpo3 was a good suspenseful thriller with Sci-Fi thrown in. It really was leading up to Rory and Amy leaving (both of whom I adore) and each one weaning themselves off the other. Jemma Redgrave made a likeable and elegant UNIT scientific advisor and Smith was incredible. Some stunning physical acting, humour and gravitas at the right moment.

Next week looks good, But with Who a worldwide hit for the beeb why do they go to New York? Everything is set in New York. I want to see an adventure set in Cuzco or Angkor Wat. Both inhabited by aliens.
 
The ending was anti-climactic. With the unexplained appearances of things, I had high hopes that it'd be like the Sontaran episodes featuring Martha and Donna... but no, this was just a cop out. Most disappointing.

Have high hopes for next week's episode though - Weeping Angels and River Song, two of my favourite Dr Who things...
 
Disappointing so far. Can't wait for the angels and Dr. Song next week. These zzz episodes need to stop.
 
Doctor Who would be awesome if River was in every episode. Amy and Rory got annoying after a while. Donna was the best companion
 
I thought the whole season seemed rushed, like they were looking for excuses to push the Pond's out the door.

I for one will miss Amy and Rory.

Oh... and the "Pond Life" clips? I'm STILL laughing at "There's an Ood on the Loo."

I think Amy and Rory should have gotten their own spin off show.
 
They did so many episodes where either Amy or Rory 'apparently' or 'alternate-timey' died or departed, that when this episode finally comes round where they ACTUALLY DO leave, it all somehow seemed strangely unreal and fake and just another temporary problem with a solution.

Anyway, I don't get it. HE'S GOT A TIME MACHINE. And since we're led to believe that they both lived a long and happy life together up to old age, then he can visit them ANY time he wants (albeit except for when they arrived) OR ALSO before the whole episode happened when they were still at home.

I don't get the whole 'permanent loss' and 'grief'. :confused:

I didn't quite get this either, or why River could talk to Amy (to finish the book), but the Doctor couldn't.
 
I think the episode is forced, creating narrative constructs for convenience rather logic. It lacks the emotional impact and finality of Rose and Donna's departures.

I am very very disappointed.

I also didn't understand Grayle... what was his deal? He collects angels and needs information from River, why then throw Rory to the babies?

What an awful episode to end on. This entire season so far has been disappointing.
 
Back in the old show (1963-1989) which I'm FAR more of a fan of, they never needed all of these contrived 'permanent' departures, companions just left, either by going home, or by falling in love, or by simply moving on. A brief goodbye was said. That was it. I admit that sometimes it seemed a bit cold, but mostly it worked.

They never needed to be sent to a beach on a permanently inaccessible alternate Earth, and they never needed to have their memory wiped (except once) and they never got 'trapped' in the past at some mysteriously unreachable timeline. The only new companion I've seen get this kind of 'normal' goodbye is Martha.

For whatever the old original series lacks in special effects, it always makes up for in character and atmosphere. But I doubt many would have the patience for the much slower pace nowadays. ;)
 
Martha's decision was her own decision, unlike Rose and Donna. However, I don't think Martha's goodbye was normal at all... if you recall, she suffered an entire year, travelling the world in secret, spreading stories about the Doctor... That's hardly normal.

I think Donna's departure was the most heartbreaking - moreso because River flagged it in "Silence in the Library" or "Forest of the Dead".
 
I'm afraid I lot the thread of the plot in yesterday's episode and didn't enjoy it at all.

Bring back Tom Baker!
 
I adore the new tardis interior. I think it looks friendly and very sci fi. Much better than the last one which was too chromey.

Gee Clara is going to be an awesome companion!
 
I think I have reached the end of my tether with this particular iteration if Doctor Who. I no longer find Smith charming, don't like the new companion and not feeling the new stories at all. I will make an effort to watch the next episode written by Neil Gaiman and the 50th anniversary episode but that's it, I think. Sad.
 
so its confirmed billie piper and david tennant are gonna make a comeback for the 50th anniversary!! anyone else excited?
im assuming tennant will play his human, parallel counterpart!

as for Wifi episode - anyone else see the name "Amelia Williams"..
