Looks like it's time to start a new thread now that the season's officially begun!

Don't want to say too much, but this episode was fantastic! At first, it seemed like it began too much like "Smith and Jones", which introduced Martha, but it quickly picked up an identity of its own. Quite touching and at times, hilarious.

I was obviously pleasantly surprised when they let us see Rose, if ever so briefly. Can't wait for the explanation on how she managed to be there!

This is brilliant, have been waiting for so long.

I have not yet seen it, but i'll probably get to watch it tomorrow night. i've already heard the spoiler you put in white text. ;)

damn now i gotta catch up on DW and BSG. lol

I felt the actual plt would've been more suited to the Sarah Jane Adventures. It was very childish and the Adipose weren't exactly scary. However it did have its moments.

The scene with Donna and her grandfather (from Voyage of the Damned) was well written. The scene where Donna and the Doctor finally catch up to each other was well done. The reappearance (and then disappearance) of Rose was really intriguing.

If Russell T Davies had come up with a better main plot it could've been a whole lot better.

Oh come on angelfan! It's the first of a new series, but this time they're reintroducing an assistant rather than having to establish a brand new relationship etc.
No it wasn't a particularly scary episode, but was fun and entertaining and thrilling in places. The Adipose were adorable (hee hee) but Sarah lancaster was brilliant as the vampy baddie!
I really liked it, and yes, as for the end, it was just perfect for securing an audience for the rest of the season!
Can't wait till next week!

Oh and... Bees? what was that?

So that excuses Russell T Davies for coming up with a crap plot? I actually found myself agreeing with a tv critic who said that with this opening episode and the new time slot they seem to be turning it into more of a kids show. Hopefully subsequent episodes will prove us wrong.

next week it's back to it's old time slot. 6:45pm. Also I liked the episode and I already started a thread about season four where I posted the names of the season's episodes.

 i liked it fine. didn't love or hate it. i think it'll be a fun season. i disagree with the folks over on digitalspyforums about donna/tate. i think she did just fine.

Ok I grant you it wasn't the best. I meant that if they had devoted a lot of time to a bigger, scarier, deep plot, they wouldn't have had the time to develop it fully, or they would have rushed over Donna's reintroduction. I think they were essentially making Donna the main plotline, especially since she was so poorly received in her Christmas episode.
But you are right - subsequent episodes should be better now that we're up and running!

A lot of the stuff reintroducing Donna was well done. As I said the scene with her and her grandfather was very good. The scene where Donna and the Doctor finally catch up with each other was good and the scene at the end where she agreed to go with him but he was hesitant was also good.

it was just the silly plot about Adipose that spoiled it (even though Sarah Lancashire was good as Miss Foster).

Never really been a fan of Doctor Who, but it was on BBC3 last night and it was actually really good. I'm not too sure on Catherine Tate's character though, i kept expecting her to do a catchphrase from the Catherine Tate Show. But i'm sure as i carry on watching it, i will begin to love her. [i will be hooked on it soon]

^^ Thank you.

As i become hooked, should i bother watching the previous seasons?

once your hooked and start to like the show then yes!! Watch the previous seasons! Because according to an internet rumour...the season finale to Season four will come full circle and explain stuff that has happened since Egglestion was the Doctor!

That is precisely what I told my friend. He said he's heard of the show, but never actually watch it. Well I am trying to persuade him to watch it, which he will inevitably do. Him and me usually like the same things, so I am confident I will have him watching the first couple seasons soon enough:D

GOOD WORK!!

Go my children and spread the news of the Doctor! :D

Must admit I thought it wasn't a great start to the series imho .But it is just great to see the show back (!)

So I finally saw the first episode of the new season and I must admit it wasn't the absolute best of the series thus far. I have others that I prefer over this one, but I did enjoy seeing the new show. It was also funny at points, which I was a little surprised about considering the last few episodes have been rather serious. Ultimately I am happy that the new series has started and I am excited to see what else will come of it, I am hearing some very interesting things!

Well tonight's episode was a big improvement on last week's. Although there were a couple of times when Catherine Tate started to sound like Lauren (especially when she spoke fast in an arguement with the Doctor). There was an interesting moral question posed in the episode and the alternative reason for the destruction of Pompeii was good.

The Ood
are back next week!
