  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Does anyone else have a hard time getting warm?

I've noticed, through non-scientific "study", through observation, and anecdotes, that most couples follow temperature extremes. There's usually a "Cold" one with a "Hot" one! #-o

In our case, Kev is the "Hottie", most of the time. It's taken me YEARS to get him to keep his paws OFF the Thermostat! 72F is the (Minimum) RULE!!! :grrr: I insist He can always take off more clothes!

True (hopefully short) story: Friends of ours, Mark and ("The Bitch!") Diane, had the same problem. Mark decided to get a dual control electric blanket for their bed. First night of "Chill" had it brought out, and quickly installed. Throughout the night ... Mark kept turning his side UP, but kept getting Colder! Any guesses why???

Yep! Had the controls crossed!! He claimed that Diane lost at least 5lb. that night!! ..|

There have been a few times when the tables have turned, though. Kev will be shivering while I'm sweating! I'm beginning to think it's just a "Kharma Thing"! One shall always be needed to Comfort the Other! \:/

We do have our own rooms. Mine is "light proof" for those times I'm working nights, and have to sleep during the day. And ... You BET! ... Flannel sheets and a downy comforter!!! A foot to the "outside" can always work to cool things down, if necessary! Doesn't happen often, though!

Snuggle UP as best you can!! (group)

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz ;)

I'm cold a lot. I used to joke that I was only comfortable for two weeks of the year -- in August.

Chalk up another flannel sheet fan ;)

Ooooooh, I love flannel sheets! That's about the only thing that I look forward too when the weather turns chilly; changing my sheets to flannel. *|* (*8*)

I also tried the "one leg/foot" out of the covers, as Kyanimal suggested but I wake up with a freezing leg/foot. ;)

So these flannel sheets; solid color or Burberry?

Careful I'm sure that Noni might be reading.

Burgandy with a black diamond pattern! ..| So COMFY! So WARM! So SNUGGLY!! (group)

Actually, I have three sets of flannel sheets - one is a red and black flannel. You know, kinda looks like a flannel shirt.

Another is dark blue and black.

And the other is kinda corny, it's a snow scene with a bunch of little snowmen all over it, lol.

Flannel sheets = brown/tan.
Flannel pillow cases = beige with flowers on them.

The recipe for a good nights sleep*
Wash and dry flannel sheets and pillow cases
Dress bed with fresh linens.
Top with two comforters; one from my childhood and one from my better half.
Turn on sleep songs and keep fan running.
Sweet dreams!

*Assumes one is sleeping alone

I dunno about that, but I just got sleepy reading your post. Which is a cozy good thing ;)

I think I'm almost ready to hit those flannel sheets.

I'm ready to hit my flannel sheets! And to turn on my fan too! Yep, I'm another fan fan. (!)

Hey, no one mentioned an electric blanket. Ooooh! So warm and cozy, makes the bed just the right temp to climb into. In fact mines warming up right now. ..|

Good night all!

I'm afraid of catching myself on fire, lol.

Night, I'm heading out myself.

And thanks, everyone ;)

Flannel sheets (and fan, of course!), here I come......

I'm the total opposite. I'm always too warm. Right now, it's -7C outside and I have my window a crack open because they've got the heat turned up too high in here. I've been leaving my window open every night, no matter how cold it is outside since they really seem to crank up the heat here.

Brisyboy, that brings to mind one summer one I decided, since I hate doing laundry, to reduce my laundry by going bare. I drove from mid-Oregon to almost the Canadian border one day, in bare skin. In Washington, you have to pump your own gas, and I was almost out of the car before I recalled I wasn't exactly dressed for public appearances.
Maybe there's such a thing as being too comfortable?
