Does anyone have a USB 3 computer?

Most new computers should have it. My Notebook (~6 months old) has it and it's a very noticeable difference.

I have a newer dell (I got it about 5 months ago). It has 2 3.0 ports, and so the first thing I had to do was go buy a 3.0 external. I love it.

My server upstairs has USB 3.0 which is silly because I only use USB on the thing for firmware flashing - such a waste. But like Ashy, I've no USB 3.0 peripherals. Come to think of it, I don't have a lot of USB peripherals period. I have a flash drive and a sd card reader - that's it.

Just to clarify, USB 3.0 devices require specific USB 3.0 cables to work at USB 3.0 speed. USB 2.0 devices work in USB 3.0 ports, but at the slower speed, of course.

Theoretically, USB 3.0 is ten times faster than USB 2.0, but in the real world it typically runs at around 4-5 times the speed of USB 2.0.

Yes, and a USB 3.0 HD docking station. It's really fast to run backups.

Is the cable the same size as normal USB and is it backwards compatible?

Corny answered you, and it's indeed yes and yes - and I'll throw in that if you should need to identify if a PC has USB 3 ports (some machines coming with a couple of them and several USB 2.0 ones, but with a generic "quick start" guide or manual that doesn't outline which ones are which!), look for the "blue tongue" (not to be confused with bluetooth ;) ) on either ports or cables that support it as a quick visual indicator.

Blue tongue? Have you been blowing a smurf?

Oh, here's a question: when you strangle a smurf, what colour to they turn?

Got a HP Microserver with 4TB onboard storage that has at least one USB3 connection on it and I also do have a USB3 Seagate HDD but they rarely get together because I mostly do it all over the network than the USB. But at some point it would be helpful I'm sure and it is nice to have the newer faster standard as I want to keep this machine for a good long time!!!! :D :D :D
