I have met several guys who identify as "queer" but don't have sex with men. Queer is a common umbrella term for all those who do not fit into, or reject, societal norms for gender and sexuality. For e.g., a guy who is straight but only bottoms (that is, gets fucked by his girlfriend's strap-on).

I know more guys like this than what the OP is getting at. Art punk types that aren't gay but may think of themselves as post-gender, gender-neutral, pansexual, whatever. Or maybe they only fuck women but are feminists or genderqueer or polyamorous. Identifying as queer can open the door to a lot of different things. It's not about who you fuck, so much as it is HOW you fuck.
 
I know a few guys like the OP is talking about. Everyone always thinks their gay, but they don't care.
 
all men are queer to some degree. they have to be. male sex is about dominance, not always pleasure.

sex between men does not make you gay, so a much larger portion of men admit to having sex with other guys than admit to only having sex with guys.

i dont know any "queer" men, and the ONE i did know and pretty much i thought was gay, turned out to be bisexual (or maybe even gay?)

so if he acts "queer", he is pretty open minded and (submissive). doesn't mean he wants cock, it just means hes a bottom.
