Does anyone need a job?

I have immediate openings for 8 employees. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

No drug tests, no absentee rules, no questions asked. Part or full time. Your choice.

6 months and we’ve only found 2 people :rotflmao:

And we unexpectedly lost 2 long time employees

What is going on? Why doesn’t anyone need a job?

Whatever it is, it has to be better than running my own firm. Send me the application form.

This thread is ironic because I have actually thought of going back to work part time, but I am pretty sure I am not serious. Alister's job offers are probably within commuting distance of me. I have been retired 10 years and am sometimes bored and extra money could come in handy, but I am pretty sure it wouldn't work.

OK, OP. You got three takers. Where are my plane tickets? Oh wait I need a private flight because of Maple.

Isn't work a lot more appealing when it is what we choose instead of what we must?

You’re all hired. Be there Monday morning at 8 am

Plastic injection mold operators and secondary(miscellaneous) work.

It’s not just us. I know 3 companies that we supply that need people just as bad as my place does.

We actually have a hard time competing with fast food. They’re paying as much as we can.

So you can't work remote, huh?

What the hell? None of you showed up.

Just out of curiosity, what are the wages? I live around guys that are part of the new "underground" economy. They work for cash under the table, after the shut down in 2020 they discovered how much they hated working for "the man".
One was a truck driver (not long haul) for a factory. Now he delivers flowers on a commission basis. I was paying a dude to help me with the lawn service ($18.per hour) but he went back to meth or crack. Why work if you can't live on what you make?

I gotta say, I like FabulouslyGhetto's terminological invention of "workingest". It's pleasantly adorable and deserves a kiss on the cheeks from me. :D

Like Alistair, I too have entertained the OF route. The thought of it is a bit scary but exciting all the same. Who knows, maybe he or a fellow JUB'er and I could do a scene together. The sex could be steamy.

As for the original topic, sounds interesting: plastic injection mold operation. Sadly, I enjoy my work and good pay right now. Paying off those student loans quite nicely. So, I must politely decline. Lol

If you can't live on what you make you'll just have to work harder.

People complain that they can't make ends meet and then they go out and buy fancy lattes and go out drinking on the weekends. Idiots. Buy yourself some instant coffee. Save your money and spend your weekends resting up for the next workweek. Food, shelter and leisure are not entitlements.

If you read my entire post, many people have chosen gigs that pay cash. Wages have been stagnant (at best) in America for several decades. I am all for a person learning to be frugal and learning ways to save money, however I find it somewhat of a "payback" that employers that screwed their workers over for years are now begging for help. Demand for workers will bring wages up.

I was being bitterly sarcastic. Based on the tone of my posts in general concerning topics such as this, I didn't feel it was necessary to point that out. Just because I quoted only a portion of your text doesn't mean I didn't read it all.

Employers will raise wages as a last resort. Clients and consumers will suffer before employers do. Or perhaps they will lure workers in with higher wages and find some way to screw them once they're employed and earning health coverage.

Sorry I didn't catch the sarcasm. I at time just take things at face value and don't pick up on satire and sarcasm. Right now employers are replacing workers in the service industry as fast as they can. A food store on it's busiest day might have a check out open, most people use self check out rather than to wait. What is just as bad as low wages (imo) is the treatment that workers receive. Having a boss Spelled backwords is double sob) yell and holler at a person is inhumane.
