Does anyone Recommend

I don't recommend any gay media older than 15 years. It was mostly written by straight people telling their version of what they think we are.

Maybe so, but this thread is about Queer as Folk which dates from 1999 (2000 for series 2) and was written by Russell T Davies who is openly gay.

Saw a couple of episodes of the UK Shameless and thought it was good enough to watch a few more. It wasn't. Never knew there was an American version. I think I'll pass.

Liked Broadchurch a lot--not too gritty for me. Thought Bodyguard was great, as was The Five. Loved the Irish show, Single-Handed, not least because I thought the lead was very sexy:

I also liked the Italian series, Il Processo, or The Trial. Great plot, good-looking, beautifully dressed cast, glamorous settings.

The Polish gay-themed Operation Hyacinth, based on true events, was excellent; that the lead had a young Alain Delon-quality about him didn't hurt. The other Polish series I really liked was The Woods.

The Staircase (the fictional series not the documentary) was really good, kept me engaged and guessing. Colin Firth as an aging, overweight American writer was so good you forgot he was Colin Firth. Created a whole persona, starting with his voice and accent. Really impressive.

I'm trying to remember... I think it was not so much grit factor as the monotonous misery mood all through. I mean even the most depressing life is more complex with the feeling tones.

Okay I'm looking up your suggestions!:gogirl:
