I was watching the show "Mission Impossible" this week. There was a team with a gay guy, his bf and his sister. He could not stop telling he camera about how special he was for being gay.

I have seen this quite often lately - "I am gay, so I must be special...". What is this?

Do you believe that your sexuality offer you special treatment or consideration? Why do some gay people believe they are "special"?

Yes. I don't think anyone should receive special treatment or consideration. Everyone should feel they are special because each of us is in our own particular way. We are special to the ones who love us and that is all that matters in this screwed up world of ours.

sure - all fine and well, but some people seem to think they are "special" and should be treated special just because they are gay. That disgusts me. Own up and be yourself.

Special yes but not special treatment.
Since when did anyone ask for special treatment ?

* in this case, special means different.

The upgrading of a crime into a 'hate crime' is a form of special treatment

No again. Generally speaking, in our society, special treatment means treatment that is better than would normally be expected for the situation at hand, not worse. If a crime is elevated to a hate crime, it usually means that other issues involving it were perpetrated against the individual because of a particular individuals lot in life and not a random crime.

No, they're no different from anyone else. That's what we kept fighting for, right? To prove that we are equal.

@ #9 ^

Is that another way of saying that people who don't normally consort with the criminal classes get special treatment?

special in way that its very difficult to conceive a gay child, like there's a technology that can give you twins or make your baby boy or girl but there's no technology that will give you a gay baby, only god can ^^ so yeah we are special

and also the onion can prove you that lmao!!

'Special' is such a subjective term. Different people have different qualifications for what they consider special. But at its heart, it just means unique or different. There's nothing about simply being gay that is unique.

Maybe homosexuality is current among the Bajorans, but those of us who have to live on planet earth are not so fortunate.

It means I date, kiss, love, and fuck men(and sometimes they fuck me).

So it really depends on how you use the word "special".

Kallipolis says the "Special Olympics World Games" are for athletes with intellectual disabilities

When I first realized I was gay I knew that I was a member of a very small minority (in terms of openly, and exclusively, gay men) of the general population. Growing up in the bible belt; I also knew that I would face no small amount of discrimination and recrimination because of my sexuality.

I was right.

So I decided to view my unique status as a gay man as a special gift. Something that set me apart from, but not less than, the vast majority of people around me. I chose to see being gay as special, and hold that close to my heart, when I was assailed, and sometimes assaulted, for an aspect of my personhood I did not choose. There were many lonely and painful times when holding that specialness close to my spirit was all that sustained me when much of the world around me seemed focused on trying to convince me that I was broken, a mistake, or an unwanted perversion.

Yes. For me being gay meant being special. And giving myself permission to feel special helped me survive when too many like me did not.

Special? Not really so much for me.....

I am a man. I breathe the same air, drink the same water, and eat the same foods that everyone else does. I have much the same feelings, emotions, and reactions that everyone else does.

What sets me apart is the fact that I am sexually attracted to my own gender. I love men. I will never desire to sleep with the opposite gender. I love the feeling of being held by strong arms, the feel of a man's face, the smell of the male body. It is what I desire.

If that difference makes me special, then so be it......:D
